Brie Larson Buys a Unicorn From Samuel L Jackson in Trailer for Netflix’s ‘Unicorn Store’ (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Where would one hope to find a unicorn? At the Unicorn Store, of course.

That’s what Brie Larson says in the trailer for her upcoming Netflix film, “Unicorn Store,” which she also directed. And who better to purchase a unicorn from than Larson’s “Captain Marvel” co-star, Samuel L. Jackson, dressed all in pink and with a massive afro?

“You need to love yourself,” Jackson tells Larson’s character, Kit. “Get out there and show us what you can do.”

Larson made her directorial debut on the comedy-fantasy about a lonely 20-something who is kicked out of school and forced to take a boring temp job and move back in with her parents. But her life changes when she discovers a mysterious store that offers to give her childlike heart its greatest desire. In her case, that’s a unicorn.

Samantha McIntyre wrote the screenplay, and “Unicorn Store” also stars Joan Cusack and Bradley Whitford. The film first premiered at Toronto in 2017, and it was acquired recently by Netflix, who will now release it globally on their streaming service on April 5.

Laura Ingraham Attacks ‘Little Journo Terrorists’ Hired to Teach at NYU (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Laura Ingraham offered fire and fury on her Fox News show “The Ingraham Angle” on Thursday, blasting a decision by NYU to hire liberal Twitter writers Talia Lavin and Lauren Duca to teach journalism courses during the Fall 2019 semester.

“They want to circumscribe speech. They want to take players off the field altogether. So she’s just a hit gal. She’s another Media Matters, they don’t want to argue. They don’t want to win the debate. They want to search and destroy. That’s what they do,” Ingraham said during an interview with conservative author Dinesh D’Souza.

“That’s why Fox viewers are so loyal to this network because we refuse to bow. We refuse to cave in to these kind of terroristic tactics and that’s what they are. They’re little journo terrorists,” she added.

D’Souza singled out Lavin in particular, saying her appointment to teach about the far right following her resignation from the New Yorker after falsely accusing a disabled ICE agent of wearing a Nazi tattoo was beyond the pale.

“She’s kicked out of journalism, but she’s hired to teach journalism,” he said in disbelief. “Think about this. In any other field this would be insane. If somebody was caught, for example, cheating at chess or making illegal moves, would they be hired to teach chess, to be a chess coach?”

Reps for NYU have not responded to repeated requests for comment from TheWrap over the issue. In a statement to TheWrap Duca said she remained undaunted.

“This ‘radical partisan’ openly believes the guiding aim of democracy is building a more equitable society, and that journalism must provide intersectional perspectives in empowering the public with the foundation of information that project requires,” she said in response to the segment. “I suppose it only makes sense that state TV sees me as the antichrist.”

Lavin did not immediately respond to request for comment, but she too laced into Ingraham on Twitter.

“Here’s Laura Ingraham displaying my face to 2.5 million viewers and calling me a “little journo-terrorist.” I am 29. I have no full-time job. I am teaching a single course, for $7k, as an adjunct,” she said. “This is insane. And irresponsible. It is incitement. It is not okay.”

We Finally Got the Blooper Reel From Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Favorite ‘Veep’ Scene (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Sorry, Jimmy Kimmel — Julia Louis-Dreyfus saved the blooper reel from her favorite-ever “Veep” scene for the other Jimmy, Fallon. Or probably it just worked out that way.

On Thursday, the “Seinfeld” alum brought “The Tonight Show” outtakes from a classic and intimate Season 6 moment her character Selina Meyer shared with co-star Tony Hale’s Gary Walsh.

“I brought it as a gift,” Louis-Dreyfus told her latest late-night host. “Merry Christmas.”

In the clip, Meyer is uncharacteristically caring for Walsh after his heart attack, which followed her own heart attack earlier in the episode. In a rare moment of affection, Meyer makes a meal for Walsh, who is recovering in her basement. Unfortunately, the food — much like Gary and Selina earlier — has taken a turn for the worst.

“We could not get through [the scene],” Louis-Dreyfus tells Fallon’s NBC audience. “I was so close to him, and the food was rancid that I gave him — literally rancid.”

In the footage itself, JLD couldn’t stay in character as Meyer very much.

“F–k me,” she appears to say in the censored-for-broadcast outtake. “How am I supposed to endure this bulls—t?”

‘Deadwood’ Movie: HBO Unveils Premiere Date – and a Teaser

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

HBO’s “Deadwood” reunion movie finally has a premiere date, with the pay cable network announcing Thursday that the long-in-the-works follow-up to David Milch’s HBO series will premiere on Friday, May 31 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

In the two-hour film — officially titled “Deadwood: The Movie” — the indelible characters of the show are reunited after a decade to celebrate South Dakota’s statehood. Former rivalries are reignited, alliances are tested and old wounds reopened as all are left to navigate the inevitable changes that modernity and time have wrought.

“Deadwood” aired on HBO for three seasons from 2004-2006. The series focused on the colorful characters that inhabited the unincorporated frontier town of Deadwood, South Dakota, in the 1870s, and starred Ian McShane, Timothy Olyphant, Molly Parker and many others.

It was canceled due to a dispute between studio Paramount Television and HBO, with the network and series creator/showrunner Milch agreeing to wrap things up with two two-hour TV movies as a finale. Rumors continued for years, with HBO finally confirming a movie was in the works last summer.

McShane, Olyphant and Parker are all returning for film, alongside other original cast members Paula Malcomson, John Hawkes , Anna Gunn, Dayton Callie, Brad Dourif, Robin Weigert, William Sanderson, Kim Dickens, Gerald McRaney, Sean Bridgers, W. Earl Brown and Keone Young. The film will also feature new cast member Jade Pettyjohn.

‘Full Frontal’: Sasheer Zamata Gets ‘Bandersnatch’-ed Thanks to ‘Racist’ Technology (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Could “racist” technology make the black community’s future less “Black Panther” and more “African-American Mirror”?

Sasheer Zamata really hopes not, seeing as she got a taste of what her own “Bandersnatch”-style life would be like on “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” — and she did not care for it.

On Wednesday’s episode of the TBS late-night series, Zamata spoke with experts about facial recognition, predicted policing, and credit decisions — tech they say can be biased because of algorithms that lead to discrimination against black people.

“People make choices and our choices influence the future that we have,” one expert told Zamata, before a “Bandersnatch”-like choose-your-own-adventure menu popped up on the bottom of the screen, allowing a viewer to (not really) decide whether Sasheer should “eat cereal” or “stop discrimination against black people.”

Unfortunately, she was forced to enjoy a bowl of Fruit Loops instead of promoting civil rights.

By the end of the segment, however, things were looking brighter for the black community, as Sasheer’s future self traveled back to meet her present self and let her know things are pretty “Black Panther” in her timeline.

Well, except for the fact “Green Book 5” just won Best Picture, so they still have “a ways to go.”

Rob Lowe Does ‘Not Great’ Michael Caine, Paul McCartney Impressions (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

We get it, Rob Lowe, you have famous friends.

On Wednesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the host of new Fox show “Mental Samurai” did a pair of very poor impressions. Don’t worry, Michael Caine and Paul McCartney — you don’t really sound like this.

At least Lowe knows his impersonations are “not great,” in his own words. The “JKL” YouTube page went a bit further, referring to them as “terrible.”

Lowe’s Caine was OK at first, but then it dipped into Sean Connery territory. His McCartney trended towards a stereotypical Indian accent, which is feedback Lowe says he’s heard during his one-man show.

Perhaps the impression explains McCartney’s expression in the selfie Lowe made the Beatle take.

Excellent! “Bill & Ted Face the Music,” the reunion film where Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves reprising their roles as the beloved time-traveling slackers, will open nationwide on Aug. 21, 2020.

Production is set to begin this summer on the third film in the franchise, Hammerstone Studios announced on Wednesday. Orion Pictures will release the movie through its United Artists Releasing banner.

Winter and Reeves released a brief announcement video from the Hollywood Bowl that the movie is “actually, hopefully” happening. Watch it above.

“Bill & Ted Face The Music” follows the events of 1989’s “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and 1991’s “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey,” with the now middle-aged best friends William “Bill” S. Preston, Esq. (Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Reeves) setting out on a new adventure to fulfill their rock and roll (Wyld Stallions) destiny to bring harmony to the universe through the power of their music. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.

Dean Parisot (“Galaxy Quest,” “Red 2,” “Fun With Dick and Jane”) is directing the time-traveling buddy comedy based on a screenplay by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, who are returning to the franchise.

Scott Kroopf is producing alongside Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce on behalf of Hammerstone Studios. Steven Soderbergh will be executive producing along with R. Scott Reid, John Ryan Jr., Scott Fischer and John Santilli. Production legal will be handled by Rosen Stapleton Law Group.

“Face the Music” was announced in May 2018, but even then Reeves had commented that he was uncertain if the film would be a “reality.”

“We’ve been trying for a long time to get that film made, and it still has its challenges,” Reeves said. “I really love the characters, and I think we have a good story to tell/ Part of it is show business stuff — financing, rights, deals. Nothing creatively.”

Reeves will next be seen in “John Wick: Chapter Three” and in the Netflix rom-com “Always be My Maybe.” Winter’s next project is a documentary on the life of the legendary rock artist Frank Zappa and another called “Showbiz Kids” for HBO and Bill Simmons’ Ringer Films.

The previous “Bill & Ted” films were box office successes, becoming cultural touch points for a generation and garnering a rabid cult following in the process.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt Do ‘Dangerous Stuff’ in ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ Trailer (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

The trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” is finally here.

We’ve already seen Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie look stunning in vintage ’60s threads, and we even saw DiCaprio do the twist, but now we see the full picture of Hollywood in 1969.

Tarantino has teased that the film would include real life luminaries in the peripheries, but did anyone anticipate Brad Pitt fighting with Bruce Lee? Or a smirking, sinister Charles Manson?

“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” is set in Hollywood in 1969 and follows a fading TV actor who teams up with his stunt double to reclaim fame during Hollywood’s final years of its golden age. But always lurking in the shadows of what is, in a way, an otherwise sunny and colorful Hollywood fairy tale, is Charles Manson and the Manson Family murders that took place in this same time period.

“Actors are required to do a lot of dangerous stuff,” DiCaprio’s actor character says of his stunt double, played by Pitt. “Cliff here helps carry the load.”

This first trailer also gives a fuller look at the absolutely stellar cast that Tarantino has assembled, many of whom are portraying real-life figures involved in the Manson story. Robbie is, of course, playing Sharon Tate, with Bruce Dern portraying rancher George Spahn, Dakota Fanning as Squeaky Fromme, Damian Lewis as legendary actor Steve McQueen, Emile Hirsch as Jay Sebring, and Lena Dunham is “Gypsy” Share.

Sony Pictures is releasing “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” on July 26.

‘Stranger Things’ Season 3 Trailer: Summer Lovin’, Teen Angst – and a Seriously Freaky New Monster (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

The long-awaited trailer for Season 3 of “Stranger Things” has finally arrived. And it looks like this year we’ll be trading in the Upside Down for teenage wasteland. Or at least living between the two different horror settings when the Duffer Brothers-created sci-fi series returns to Netflix on the Fourth of July.

The 2-minute, 47-second trailer opens with Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) returning home from some trip to a surprise party hosted by Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Will (Noah Schnapp), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Max (Sadie Sink). And for a kid who has seen some the freakiest supernatural creatures we could imagine, he is unreasonably spooked by the sweet gesture.

The rest of the video is set to The Who’s “Baba O’Riley,” a perfect backdrop to the summer lovin’ and teenage angst the Hawkins crew is going through as they fight puberty and other horrors during their school break.

Additional highlights from the trailer include a hint of romance between David Harbour’s Hopper (with a mustache!) and Joyce (Winona Ryder), a very concerned Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), the introductions of the charming Mayor Kline (Cary Elwes) and Robin (Maya Hawke), Steve’s (Joe Keery) co-worker at Scoops Ahoy who is concerned he doesn’t have any friends his own age.

Oh, and let’s not forget the terrifying new monster that pops up in the Starcourt Mall in front of the gang at the very end there. Gah, rats!

Yeah, the Demogorgon’s got nothing on whatever the heck that thing is.

David Boreanaz Says ‘Angel’ Reunion Might Be ‘in the Works’ for 20th Anniversary (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2017 and its spinoff series, “Angel,” is hitting the big 2-0 itself this fall. And in honor of the momentous occasion, David Boreanaz says there is a possibility a reunion might be in the works.

“Well, you know, we’re coming up on our 20 years,” Boreanaz — who played the titular vampire detective on The WB series, after originating the role on “Buffy” — said on “The Talk” Tuesday. “I mean that’s amazing to have been blessed with a show like that. And that’s really where I started my gig in this acting world. And I love that character. So I will say there may be something coming up. I don’t want to give away a lot. But I can say it’s 20 years coming up this fall, and we may have something in the works.”

Boreanaz starred as Angel, Buffy Summers’ (Sarah Michelle Gellar) much-older (by a couple of centuries), bloodsucking love interest, on the first three seasons of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” before spinning off onto “Angel” — also the work of “Buffy” creator Joss Whedon — in October 1999.

‘Umbrella Academy’ Star David Castenada Is Just as Confused by Season 1’s Ending as You Are (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale of “The Umbrella Academy”)

If you have questions after watching the first season of Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy,” we can tell you that we don’t have any answers. And neither does David Castañeda, who starred as Diego on the streamer’s adaptation of Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s graphic novels about a dysfunctional family of superheroes.

The ending to the Season 1 finale sees the Umbrella Academy, after failing to stop Vanya (Ellen Page) and avert the apocalypse, decide to let Five (Aidan Gallagher) take them all back in time to try and prevent it entirely. And in doing so, we still Vanya, Five, Diego, Luther (Tom Hopper), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Robert Sheehan) and even Ben (Justin H. Min) all de-age down to their pre-teen selves. Huh?

Yeah, Castañeda doesn’t know what’s going on there either.

Also Read: ‘Umbrella Academy’ Trailer: Ellen Page’s ‘Insane’ Superhero Family Has 8 Days to Save the World (Video)

“You know what, I’m as lost as you guys are at that moment,” the Netflix series’ star told TheWrap in the interview above. “Because, obviously, when we were shooting the last episode [showrunner] Steve Blackman didn’t even give us the last page of what was gonna happen until pretty much the day we shot it. So even till now, he doesn’t reply to any of my messages that I’ve been trying to ask him what’s going on. He doesn’t want to talk to me right now (laughs). So who knows.”

Castañeda also told us he did his own stunts when taking on Diego’s knife throwing skills and wore real knives on set, practicing with rubber knives in a warehouse alongside a stunt coordinator before the show started.

“And when I was home I would practice with a dull knife and just be practicing with it, because eventually I wanted to feel — obviously I wanted to wear the real knives on set and when I would take one out I wanted to feel that I would make everyone feel safe, because they were real and they could puncture lungs,” he said.

Good thing he was trained because there was one scene in Episode 5 where Luther grabs Diego and Hopper actually “punctured” himself when he had to grab his co-star around his chest and grazed the knives. Don’t worry, Castenada says he’s OK!

The Netflix star also gave us his true ranking for Diego a.k.a. the Umbrella Academy’s No. 2 (spoiler alert: it isn’t great, but he has his reasons) among the team and breaks down his role in the siblings’ simultaneous dance sequence to Tiffany’s “I Think We’re Alone Now.”

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Well [bleep] Cheryl gently with a chainsaw, because she is not messing around in this sneak peek at Wednesday’s “Riverdale,” which features The CW series’ cast performing “Heathers: The Musical.”

In the preview below, we find out Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) has rightfully been given the part of Heather Chandler, the HBIC from the ’90s cult classic, while Veronica (Camila Mendes) is taking on Heather McNamara and Betty (Lili Reinhart) is Heather Duke. But, as Kevin — once again the Riverdale High musical’s director — puts it, “Cheryl is the mythic bitch.”

And in the musical episode’s second teaser — which you can view above — Cheryl takes that title up to 11 when she finds out Toni has been set as the choreographer for the production, and she’s, uh, not too happy about her ex girlfriend being in charge of her dance steps.

“Um, does anyone have a chainsaw because what the-,” Miss Blossom says before the preview cuts out.

And Betty knows the cast has even bigger problems to worry about, as Evelyn has been appointed Kevin’s co-director and will surely be bringing her farm-girl attitude into all of this.

New ‘Toy Story 4’ Trailer Will Make You Cry as Woody Imagines Life on the Road (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Why do you have to do this to us Pixar? Does every new look at “Toy Story 4” have to make us cry this much?

The new trailer for “Toy Story 4” starts to try and answer those burning questions everyone had the first time around about the new character Forky, like his existential crisis and reason for existing. But it also grapples with Woody’s own purpose as a toy, something this franchise has done dating all the way back to the original. Oh, and it’s all set to the tune of “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys. They really know where to get us, don’t they?

“I was made to help this child,” Woody says. “I don’t remember it being this hard.”

This latest trailer also introduces us to three new characters and brings back the original franchise’s Bo Peep, who is now an adventurous spirit living life as a toy on the road. Among the new characters are Gabby Gabby, voiced by Christina Hendricks, Duke Caboom voiced by Keanu Reeves, and Giggle McDimples, voiced by Alli Maki.

Here’s the full synopsis:

Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.

Directed by Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”) and produced by Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”), Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” ventures to theaters on June 21.

Natalie Portman heads for the stars in upcoming space drama “Lucy in the Sky,” but she finds that coming back down to Earth is a lot tougher.

In the new teaser trailer released Tuesday, we see female astronaut Lucy Cola (Portman) suited up for a mission, kissing her husband Drew (Dan Stevens) goodbye before being blasted into space.

“You got to see the vast celestial everything and it blew your mind, so now nothing makes sense,” fellow astronaut Mark Goodwin, played by Jon Hamm, tells Cola after her lengthy mission.

Here’s Who Kristin Chenoweth Wants to Cast in the ‘Wicked’ Movie (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Kristin Chenoweth has her dream casting in mind for the upcoming film adaptation of “Wicked,” and we’re clicking our heels together three times to make sure we’re not dreaming at even the thought of it.

Chenoweth, who played Glinda the Good Witch in the “Wizard of Oz” prequel stage musical and was nominated for a Tony Award for her work, said Dove Cameron should take on her role for the film musical.

“I have done two movies with her and I’ve played her mother twice, so I would see that as passing the crown so to speak,” Chenoweth said on “The Talk.”

Cameron is the star of the Disney Channel show “Liv and Maddie.” She has featured on stage in a production of “Mamma Mia” and others, and she also had a recurring role on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

What about Elphaba, Glinda’s green best friend who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West? It’s hard to top Idina Menzel, but Chenoweth thought one of the biggest pop stars in the world would be ideal.

“I think Ariana Grande would make the perfect Elphaba,” Chenoweth said. “Both of them have got to be great actors and great singers …. and funny and sad, and both good and evil, and I just think they have it.”

Chenoweth was then asked if she would ever collaborate with Grande on a project.

Stephen Daldry is directing the film produced by Marc Platt and Winnie Holzman, who wrote the original musical book, is writing the screenplay.

Netflix has released the first trailer for “Black Summer,” the prequel to Syfy’s recently cancelled “Z Nation.”

“Black Summer” tells the story leading up to the events of “Z Nation,” which begins three years after the rise of hostile zombies’ assault on human life. The series follows “Hart of Dixie” actress Jaime King playing a mother who loses her daughter during the collapse of civilization that follows a zombie outbreak. King’s character searches for her daughter while the first and deadliest summer of the apocalypse unfolds.

“Black Summer” premieres four months after Syfy announced their decision not to renew “Z Nation” for a sixth season, the final episode of which aired Dec. 28.

“You guys are our family, so we wanted to tell you face-to-face in person that we were not renewed for Season 6,” producer David Michael Latt said in a periscope video on Dec. 21. “We’re stopping at Season 5. We’re very sad, but we’re also really grateful with the opportunities that we had on the show.”

Producer David L. Garber added, “The sad news is ‘Z Nation’ is over, but the good news is we have a show starting in the spring, which is kind of an origin story. It’s called ‘Black Summer.’ It’ll be on Netflix exclusively.”

“Black Summer” premieres April 11 on Netflix.
