Trump Says He’ll Nominate Former ‘Fox & Friends’ Host as New UN Ambassador (Video)

President Trump said on Friday that he would move to nominate Heather Nauert to serve as the United States’ next ambassador to the United Nations.

Nauert, a former host of Trump’s favorite television show “Fox & Friends” currently serves as the U.S. Acting Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs — the fourth highest ranking position in the Department of State.

“Heather Nauert will be nominated as ambassador to the United Nations,” Trump told reporters outside the White House, calling her “very smart” and noting her successful current service at the State Department with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Trump also announced that he would nominate Bush era attorney William Barr as Attorney General to replace Jeff Sessions.

Before becoming one of America’s most senior diplomat, Trump originally poached Nauert from Fox News to serve as spokesperson for the State Department in April 2017. Nauert previously had a long career at the conservative-leaning network first as a contributor, then later as a correspondent.

Like Trump, she had no previous government experience, but had been one of the billionaire’s biggest cheerleaders while on television. She will now face Senate confirmation where it is unclear if her light resume will pass muster with the GOP’s thin majority in the chamber.

If confirmed she will replace outgoing ambassador Nikki Haley, who revealed her departure in a surprise announcement last month.

The elevation of Nauert further tightens the bond between Trump and Fox News — but particularly “Fox & Friends,” which he is known to watch every morning. The president routinely tweets out news stories promoted by the show or directly retweets their content. Hosts like Brian Kilmeade have occasionally been known to look straight into the camera and address Trump directly.

The billionaire’s relationship with the show stretches back to 2011, where its hosts allowed him regular airtime to spout off against President Obama and float various wild conspiracy theories — most notably that Obama was not a U.S. citizen and was secretly born in Kenya.

After he was elected president, Trump continued to call in to vent in often sprawling interviews. His most recent dial-in appearance last month stretched nearly a commercial-free hour and was only ended after co-host Steve Doocy begged him to get off the phone and “run the country.”

Various media reports said he briefly considered the show’s Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Veterans Affairs back in March, before ultimately deciding on Robert Wilkie.

The set of “Morning Joe” offered a dismal reaction to President Trump’s speech to the United Nation on Tuesday, telling their audience Wednesday that world leaders were laughing at Trump and warned that America had surrendered it’s place in the world.

The show opened with footage of world leaders offering spontaneous laugher to President Trump’s claim that his administration had accomplished “more than almost any administration in the history of our country.”

“I just want everyone to stop for a second and get reaction to the sound bite you just saw and the laughter you just heard,” said co-host Mika Brzezinski. “The world is laughing at the President of the United States and Donald Trump’s America has become the butt of a big joke.”

The UN speech was a departure for the show, which has dedicated the lion’s share of coverage all week to sexual misconduct allegations against Brett Kavanaugh — which will come a a dramatic climax tomorrow when Christine Blasey Ford is expected to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Time’s Amal Clooney ‘Baby Bump’ Tweet Gives Birth to Mass Outrage

Oh, baby. Things got a little bumpy for Time on the social media front this week.

The news outlet found itself at the center of mass criticism Thursday, after tweeting about Amal Clooney’s address to the United Nations — and focusing on her baby bump.

“Amal Clooney shows off her baby bump at the United Nations,” Time tweeted on Thursday, linking to a story about Clooney — who’s currently expecting twins — addressing the UN about ISIS.

“A particularly bad example of #everydaysexism,” went one reply.

“Jesus Herbert Walker Christ. Let the journalists show you how it’s done,” another responder groused, linking to an Associated Press tweet with a bump-free headline.

Wonder Woman’s UN Ambassadorship Yanked After Protest Over Her Big Breasts

No word on whether it used a golden lasso to do it, but the United Nations has yanked Wonder Woman from her ambassadorship.

The U.N. has chosen to end the superhero’s honorary ambassador post effective Friday, Reuters reports.

Wonder Woman was appointed to the position in late October.

According to Reuters, the U.N. did not elaborate on why the ambassadorship was ending. However, the choice was racked by protests staged by a group identifying as United Nations staff members concerned that the superhero’s curves sent the wrong message.

“Although the original creators may have intended Wonder Woman to represent a strong and independent ‘warrior’ woman with a feminist message, the reality is that the character’s current iteration is that of a large breasted, white woman of impossible proportions, scantily clad in a shimmery, thigh-baring body suit with an American flag motif and knee high boots — the epitome of a ‘pin-up’ girl,” a petition posted by the group on Care2 read.

“This is the character that the United Nations has decided to represent a globally important issue — that of gender equality and empowerment of women and girls,” the group continued.

Wonder Woman was chosen as Honorary Ambassador for the Empowerment of Women and Girls. The choice was made in support of the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goal 5, which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

According to Reuters, the campaign featuring Wonder Woman was planned to be used into next year.

Wonder Woman’s Breasts Are Too Big for UN Ambassadorship, Critics Say

The United Nations’ choice of Wonder Woman as an honorary ambassador is a big bust in more ways than one. At least that’s the claim of an online petition that wants the UN to reconsider its decision.

The petition, launched by a group calling itself Concerned United Nations staff members on Care2, says that, while the DC Comics character might have been intended as a powerful female role model, the way she’s currently stacked, she’s hardly an appropriate candidate to promote the empowerment of women and girls.

“Although the original creators may have intended Wonder Woman to represent a strong and independent ‘warrior’ woman with a feminist message, the reality is that the character’s current iteration is that of a large breasted, white woman of impossible proportions, scantily clad in a shimmery, thigh-baring body suit with an American flag motif and knee high boots — the epitome of a ‘pin-up’ girl,” the petition reads.

“This is the character that the United Nations has decided to represent a globally important issue — that of gender equality and empowerment of women and girls,” the group continues.

And that just won’t do, the petition says.

“It is alarming that the United Nations would consider using a character with an overtly sexualized image at a time when the headline news in United States and the world is the objectification of women and girls,” the group maintains. “The image that Wonder Woman projects (life-size cut outs of which have already appeared at UNHQ) is not culturally encompassing or sensitive -attributes the United Nations expects all its staff members to embody in the core value of respect for diversity.”
