Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Katie Couric took to Instagram to weigh in on former “Today Show” co-host Matt Lauer’s ousting from NBC after he was accused of multiple acts of sexual misconduct.

Couric posted a picture with her daughter on Friday (seen below), and one commenter wanted to know why she hadn’t spoke out about Lauer, who she worked alongside on the NBC morning show for 10 years.

“Nothing to say on Matt?? Huh – ya’ll would have been all over the story years ago,” said the commenter.

“It’s incredibly upsetting and I will say something when I’m ready to,” Couric commented back. “Thanks for your interest.”

NBC News Chairman Andy Lack released a memo to employees in late November saying Lauer had been fired after a complaint was filed by a staffer detailing “inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.” Lack added he was “presented with reason” to believe it wasn’t an “isolated incident.”

Soon after, a damning report from Variety detailed several claims against Lauer, including giving one staff member a  sex toy and “an explicit note” on how he wanted to use it on her. The exchange left the staffer “mortified.”

Lauer had been at the helm of the “Today Show” since 1994 and was pulling in a $25 million-a-year salary. NBC confirmed to TheWrap he will not be receiving severance from the network.

Late Night Tackles Matt Lauer Accusations, Mocks Trump’s Hypocritical Response (Video)

Late night hosts are used to taking on the topic of sexual misconduct in their monologues on days that end in Y at this point, and Wednesday night was no exception.

Following the announcement made Wednesday that longtime “Today” show host Matt Lauer had been fired by NBC News after a complaint of “inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace,” hosts Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O’Brien, Trevor Noah and Jimmy Fallon used their platforms to address the shocking news and, of course, President Donald Trump’s response to it.

“Wow, Matt Lauer was just fired from NBC for ‘inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace,’” POTUS tweeted. “But when will the top executives at NBC & Comcast be fired for putting out so much Fake News. Check out Andy Lack’s past!”

Kimmel opened “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” by saying seeing Lauer’s name trending for sexual harassment is “better than him being dead” and wondering if Trump, who hosted “The Apprentice” on NBC, was aware that he too was accused of “inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace” at the network. “Is he aware that he’s him? I don’t think he does.”

Kimmel also commented on the firing of “A Praire Home Companian” host Garrison Keillor over sexual misconduct accusations. “Can you imagine being fired from Minnesota Public Radio? It’s like having your library card revoked.”

Colbert noted in exasperation during his “Late Show” monologue that he is now “one of the few men still allowed on television” and called out Trump, who, of course, tweeted about Lauer’s firing, for even beginning to have an opinion on the situation.

“Listen up!” Colbert said. “You don’t get to comment. That is the pot calling the kettle at 3 a.m. and asking what she’s wearing.”

Fallon, whose “Tonight Show” airs on NBC, specifically addressed how Lauer’s firing affected the network’s annual tree lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center, which went on without the “Today” show vet. “Also getting lit tonight, the HR rep over at the ‘Today’ show,” Fallon said.

Seth Meyers, whose late-night program is also on NBC, taped a day early, so Meyers’ monologue was sans Lauer references — for that night, at least.

Over on TBS, Conan joked the “Today” show’s setup, with fans watching from just outside the studio in 30 Rockefeller Center, had lead to Lauer’s downfall. “After Lauer said, ‘Maybe having all those people looking in the windows wasn’t such a great idea after all,’” Conan said, thinking as Lauer. “Maybe that was the problem.”

Noah also commented on Lauer’s firing on “The Daily Show,” counting him in with Bill O’Reilly, Charlie Rose, and Mark Halperin, and joked, “Soon we’ll have enough for a Perve News Network,” as a PNN logo — a riff on CNN’s icon — flashed across the screen.

James Corden did not address Lauer’s situation on “The Late Late Show,” instead focusing on Trump’s decision to tweet inflammatory anti-Muslim videos from a known British hate group, “Britain First,” on Wednesday morning.

The announcement that Lauer had been fired was made at the top of the “Today” show on Wednesday, which he joined full-time in 1994 as news anchor and then as co-host three years later. “I am heartbroken,” said Savannah Guthrie, who has served as co-anchor for the last five years.

That Time Matt Lauer Dropped His Pants in Front of Female Co-Hosts in Cringeworthy 2014 Skit (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Matt Lauer has definitely exhibited some lewd behavior on the set of the “Today” show at least once before — for an on-air skit, that is.

Soon after Lauer was fired by NBC News following a complaint of “inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace,” on Wednesday, a clip from a December 2014 “Today” show segment started making the rounds on social media.

The sketch in question was from “Today: The Musical!” a bit starring the hosts in which Lauer happens to drop his pants in front of some of his female NBC colleagues in the middle of the skit.

In the sketch, Lauer has coffee spilled on him in a hallway, so he strips off his trousers before going on air. “I gotta repress my designer slacks,” he says. “I gotta look as good as that numb-nuts Regis Philbin.”

Just as a “Today” page is beginning to iron Lauer’s pants, several female co-stars walk through the door and Lauer jumps at the chance to expose his boxer-clad body to them. “Drink it in, ladies!” he exclaims.

They immediately grown at his stunt, saying all at once, “Again, Matt?” “Really?” “It’s the third time this week!” “Did your mommy give you those?” “Stop it! You’re making me lactate.”

As they turn to leave, Lauer turns his body and says, “Get it while it lasts!”

NBC’s decision to terminate Lauer was announced at the top of Wednesday’s “Today” show, which he joined full-time in 1994 as news anchor and then as co-host three years later. “I am heartbroken,” said Savannah Guthrie, who has served as co-anchor for the last five years.

In a memo to employees, NBC News chairman Andy Lack said that he had received a “detailed complaint” from a staffer on Monday night.

“It represented, after serious review a clear violation of our company’s standards,” Lack wrote. “While it is the first complaint about his behavior in the over 20 years he’s been at NBC News, we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident.”

Lack continued, “Our highest priority is to create a workplace environment where everyone feels safe and protected, and to ensure that any actions that run counter to our core values are met with consequences, no matter who the offender.”
