‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’: Jake Goes Full John McClane-‘Die Hard’ in First NBC Trailer (Video)

What the hell is Andy Samberg doing? “Something magnificent, that’s what.”

In the first NBC trailer for Season 6 of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Jake Peralta (Samberg) is living out his life-long dream of becoming an action hero. And (in his mind) he’s even more amazing than John McClane in “Die Hard.”

The one-minute, 45-second promo for the former Fox comedy’s first year on its new network sees the world’s biggest “Die Hard” fan coming to the Nine-Nine’s rescue, by sending Terry (Terry Crews), Amy (Melissa Fumero) and Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) repelling off the roof of a building that’s about to explode, as Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) and Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) look on in amazement.

Don’t worry, though — Jake has a plan to save himself.

In “3… 2… 1… SLOW MO,” he jumps off the roof toward a helicopter, just as the skyscraper blows, and manages to grab the chopper in midair.

He’s the envy of the precinct. He’s loved by Amy. He has bigger muscles than Terry. He’s braver than Rosa in every way.

“Jake is the finest cop in the city. Nay, the world!” Holt declares.

Then everyone chants Jake for a “full uninterrupted minute” — and that’s the new recruitment video for Brooklyn’s 99th precinct.

Well, Jake is hoping he has sold the squad on his fantasy, as the camera cuts to show Peralta pitching the team his idea for the promo with action figures.

“No,” Holt says.

Yeah, Jake’s plan probably was never going to work — as is evident by a second version of the NBC trailer, which shows the pitch go over just as poorly as it did the first time, but this one includes Holt’s idea for the recruitment video. And it’s, uh, different.

Terry Crews Publishes Adam Venit’s Apology Letter Over Harassment Fallout, Says He Now Accepts It

Venit’s exit from WME was announced September 6, just under a year after Crews accused him of sexual harassment.

Terry Crews is ready to accept Adam Venit’s apology now that the former talent agent and executive has resigned from William Morris Endeavor (WME). Crews marked the occasion by publishing to social media Venit’s full apology letter that was sent to Crews earlier this year on March 22. Crews revealed last fall that Venit groped him at a 2016 party in Los Angeles and has been the most prominent male voice in the #MeToo anti-harassment movement.

“The intent of this letter is to start a dialogue in service of taking responsibility for the emotional challenge that this experience has caused you and your family,” Venit’s letter begins. “I have dedicated myself to spiritual self-discovery in an effort to be the best person I can be for the rest of my life, and hopefully make difference to me, my family and everyone I know.”

Venit continued by writing his intent with the letter is to have both Crews and himself “heal from this situation and move forward.”

“I know that you didn’t ask for any of this,” Venit writes. “Again, I take full responsibility for us being here now, together in this situation. I am sorry for all of it…I have no right to expect your forgiveness, but I am asking for it nonetheless.”

Crews’ accompanied the letter with a tweet that said he had finally accepted Venit’s apology when he resigned from VME earlier this month. The actor testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee in June about his experience with sexual harassment. Read Venit’s full letter in the post below.

Ex-Model and Bruce Weber Accuser Jason Boyce: Some Days ‘I Sit in My Car and Cry’ (Video)

Former model Jason Boyce, who in December sued famed photographer Bruce Weber for sexually assaulting him during a 2014 photo shoot, says that nine months after coming forward, he’s still triggered by the experience.

“There are some days when I get up and I sit in my car and I cry,” Boyce told TheWrap. “I don’t know why, and that’s not something that I did before.”

In 2014, Boyce got a call from his modeling agent informing him he scored a test shoot with Weber. Boyce thought he’d finally arrived. “He’s what would be called in that industry, a ‘star maker,’” Boyce said. “He’s at the top.”

Boyce came to the shoot prepared to “nail it,” arriving at the “best shape of my life.” But by the end of that session, he said, he was “broken.”

“He started his breathing exercises with me and that’s when things took a sinister turn,” Boyce said. “He, over a long period of time, kept making advances and putting his hands on me. I’ve talked about this a thousand times, it never gets easier.”

In December, Boyce filed a lawsuit against Weber’s company, Little Bear, and his former agent, Jason Kanner, accusing the photographer of groping him and kissing him against his will. (Lawyers for Weber “unequivocally” denied the accusations called them “false;” Kanner did not respond.)

“I walked from his studio in lower Manhattan all the way to my place I was staying in Brooklyn and tried to make sense of what happened,” he said. “And I couldn’t. I was not myself after that.”

Boyce’s account is consistent with other male models who came forward in January accusing Weber of sexual misconduct in a New York Times article. The men described private sessions with Weber in which he asked them to undress and led them through breathing exercises. Weber would then guide their hands wherever he felt their “energy.”

Boyce said he came forward in part because of actor Terry Crews, the “Brooklyn Nine Nine” star and former NFL player who accused WME agent Adam Venit of groping him at a Hollywood party in February 2016. (Venit denied the accusations and was never charged with a crime, but resigned from the agency this month as part of a settlement of a lawsuit by Crews.)

Boyce, who is pursuing an acting career while working as a personal trainer, spoke to TheWrap about his “up and down” experience in the last year.

Why did you come forward?
It was eating me alive. It was changing me as a person. I couldn’t sleep, I was angry, I had anxiety, things I never suffered from before… It was affecting my relationship with my wife. I think what really kind of jolted me was when this whole #MeToo movement started, I saw how brave these women were, I saw them out there with no fear and telling people what had happened to them.

But the real one that really helped me was Terry Crews… To see someone that was so strong… come forward, I was like, “I have to say something” because I knew that there were a lot of young men like me that didn’t have a voice.

What was it like telling your story?
I was petrified. I remember agonizing over this decision to approach a law firm for days, sitting on my couch in a complete… panic of what could come of this, what would the public perception of it be.

What was the reaction like?
There was a lot of support but there was also a lot of, “You’re a strong man, why didn’t you just punch him in the face?”… I’ve seen stuff like, “You’re too ugly, there’s no way Bruce would do this to you.”

What’s the status of your lawsuit?
The lawsuit is ongoing. What I hope to get out of it is a change, a systematic change in the fashion industry, not only for Bruce Weber to be held accountable but for the fashion industry itself to be held accountable because I think there are a lot of blind eyes turned.

Bruce Weber denied your accusations. What do you think of his statement?
The truth will come out. How I feel about what he says is irrelevant, doesn’t matter. This will be handled one way or another. I know the truth. I’m happy with that.

What happened to your modeling career since the incident?
It ended essentially. I think I did one more photo shoot after that here in California, and I was done. Which is too bad because before New York, before 2014, I really enjoyed it… My agent in New York dropped me, my agent here in L.A. dropped me… I just wasn’t responsive. I was done. I was dead.

What have the last eight months been like?
Up and down would be the best way to put it. You have days and weeks where you feel clear… and then those thoughts creep back in… There are some days when I get up and I sit in my car and I cry. I don’t know why, and that’s not something that I did before.

I have a son, who’s going to be born in December, so I’m going to be a father. That’s what I’m focusing on right now… I wanted to start a family and I knew that I had to be healthy mentally and spiritually and emotionally.

Adam Venit, a longtime talent agent at Endeavor and WME, is stepping down next week, an insider told TheWrap.

Venit found himself embroiled in the #MeToo uproar after Terry Crews, a former WME client, accused Venit of groping him at a party. Crews filed a civil suit against WME and Venit related to the 2016 incident. Venit’s departure was supposed to be announced on Monday, according to the insider.

WME said in a statement: “Terry Crews, Adam Venit, and WME have settled the lawsuit Mr. Crews filed last year. It will be dismissed.”

Venit, who has repped Adam Sandler, Sylvester Stallone, Eddie Murphy and many other big clients, was suspended by WME in December while an investigation was held, but the agency ruled that while he would be demoted from his position as head of the Motion Picture Department, he would be allowed to stay on as an agent. The Los Angeles City Attorney’s office declined to prosecute Venit, saying that the incident fell outside the statute of limitations.

According to Crews’ lawsuit, he pushed Venit away after the alleged assault and turned to Adam Sandler, who was Venit’s client. “Adam, come get your boy!” he yelled. “He’s grabbing my nuts.”

After the party, Crews said Sandler called to see if he was OK and said that he was shocked at the behavior. Crews said he was worried about retaliation from Venit, even though WME head Ari Emanuel assured him that Venit “did not have that level of power despite his title as head of the Motion Picture Department.”

Deadline first reported the news of Venit’s planned departure.

Terry Crews Suggests Adam Venit’s LAPD Connection Is Why His Sexual Assault Case Was Thrown Out

A letter identifies Venit as Event Chairman of the LAPD Foundation.

Terry Crews won’t be getting his day in court, but he shows no signs of ending his social-media blitz against the man he claims groped him. The “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star, whose case against WME agent Adam Venit was thrown out due to the statute of limitations expiring, took to Twitter to point out a link between the high-powered agent and the LAPD.

“Adam Venit has been the Event Chairman of the LAPD Foundation, which raises millions for the @LAPD. (See letter below),” Crews tweeted. “Anyone wonder why my assault case against him was thrown out by the D.A.? Yeah, #MeToo.”

The attached letter, written by Venit and his wife Trina, notes that the two are “Event Chairs of the LAPF True Blue Gala” and thus “deeply committed to the organization and to our men and women in blue.” Crews, who plays a cop himself on the beloved “Nine-Nine,” will be exploring the #MeToo movement in an upcoming episode of his sitcom.

Crews is no longer with WME, and sued the agency in December.

But yes, it is- the mandate from NBC… has been, ‘We know this show, we love this show, that’s why we picked up this show, please keep making the same show.’”

With crowns all the rage, The Late Late Show with James Corden pulled a royal flush last night with its fake commercial for Lizzie & The Duke, a faux-cop drama tapping into the latest British Invasion with a special appearance by ex-Doctor Who himself, Matt Smith. ‘Lethal Weapon’ Meets ‘The Crown’ in Fake Promo for James Corden, Matt Smith’s New Cop Drama (Video)

Matt Smith and James Corden are kicking ass and taking on royal names in a fake promo for a gritty new cop drama, which aired during the “Late Late Show” Thursday night.

In the teaser for “Lizzie & the Duke” (think “Lethal Weapon” meets “The Crown”) Prince Philip (Smith) is assigned a new partner, his wife, Queen Elizabeth II (Corden). The two have an awkward history, but their chief (played by Terry Crews) thinks the by-the-book Duke and the loose cannon queen are the best of the best and forces a team up.

“Come on, Philip! Let’s go and teach these ghastly ruffians some manners,” Her Majesty says before the two take off in slow motion to go bust some bad guys.

The rest is a long compilation of classic cop show tropes being mashed up with subtle (and some not so subtle) nods to Smith’s tenure on the Netflix drama about the royal couple, and the fact that he and Corden are both super British.

“Bend the knee!” Corden screams while holding a perp against a wall, while Smith interrogates a suspect during tea time. The queen then beheads someone and during a shootout, Philip cries, “I am too royal for this s—.”

It ends with the tagline: “This fall on CBS, criminals are royally screwed.” Oh, we wish.
