Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski Marry in Hush-Hush D.C. Wedding

“Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski exchanged wedding vows Saturday in front of the Constitution, Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights in Washington D.C.’s National Archives, Vanity Fair reports.

The ceremony, officiated by Rep. Elijah Cummings, was a well-held secret. No invitations were sent out; instead the couple opted to call family and close friends, who weren’t told of the location until the day of the wedding, according to VF.

“We wanted it to be really small and simple and not what you expected from Mika and Joe,” Brzezinski explained to VF. “Everything we do is exposed, and everything felt exposed every step of the way, so we want this to be private until it’s over. We wanted to recognize it more quietly and have the people who are most important to us around us. And you know, our show is a cocktail party every morning.”

With Congress out of session and President Trump in Palm Beach, D.C. was quiet. The Archives – which had never before been the site of a wedding — was closed to the public Saturday evening with only its security and staff around to shepherd the couple, their five guests and their children.

A little after 6:30 p.m. EST, Scarborough and Brzezinski entered the Archives rotunda from opposite sides, as a string quartet played Handel’s “Arrival of the Queen of Sheba.” They met in the center of the room on a bronze circle with an inlay that read “history,” “justice” and detail The Ten Commandments.

“We did an event there more than a year ago and we were just blown away, seeing all these documents and how we felt seeing them,” Brzezinski told Emily Jane Fox, who was reporting for Vanity Fair, before the ceremony. “It makes sense now more than ever, given what we stand for as a couple, what we do for a living, and what we’re worried about as a country.”

Following the ceremony, a small reception of about 40 people was held at the French bistro, Chez Billy Sud. Rep. Cummings toasted the newlyweds, saying, “I am here tonight because of the important work Joe and Mika do every day and to celebrate them and the love they have for each other and their kids.” Then added, “Make wonderful memories because at some point that’s all you will have.”

Joe Scarborough Accuses Fox News of ‘Inspiring People Like This Pittsburgh Mass Murderer’

Joe Scarborough accused Fox News on Monday morning of playing a direct role in inspiring extremists like Robert Bowers, who is accused of murdering 11 people at a Pittsburgh synagogue on Saturday.

“People on Fox News that talk about the caravan as if this is a big election issue know it’s a lie, know it’s 1,000 miles away. [They] know that the last caravan that they whipped up a frenzy about actually only brought 14 arrests by the end of the caravan.” said Scarborough on “Morning Joe.”  “They are spreading hatred across America and at the end of the day … inspiring people like this Pittsburgh mass murderer.”

Mika Brzezinski was broadly in agreement with her co-host.

“[Bowers] also frequently posted about the migrant caravan, a major talking point right-wing commentators and President Trump and his stupid followers running for Republican seats, who tend to just repeat it because they think it will work,” she said. “They know it’s a lie.”

The “Morning Joe” commentary came a day after a Financial Times editor called for a boycott of Fox News, tweeting out that such actions were the only remedy for stopping the “poison.” from the network.

“The most effective thing Americans can do is boycott companies that advertise on Fox,” said Edward Luce.  “They bankroll the poison that goes from the studio into Trump’s head. The second is vote.”

Fox News has dedicated extensive coverage to the migrant caravan and George Soros in recent weeks. Over the weekend, the network moved aggressively to pivot from that, announcing the complete ban of Chris Farrell, who told Lou Dobbs and his Fox Business audience that Soros was controlling the State Department.

“We condemn the rhetoric by the guest on ‘Lou Dobbs Tonight,’” Gary Schreier, senior vice president of programming for Fox Business Network, said in a statement. “This episode was a repeat which has now been pulled from all future airings.”

Reps for Fox News did not immediately respond to request for comment from TheWrap.

Joe Scarborough Calls Trump Attacks on Migrant Caravan ‘Anti-American’ and ‘Un-Christlike’

Joe Scarborough condemned President Trump’s fixation on a caravan of migrants slowly moving toward the United States from Central America, telling his audience on “Morning Joe” on Wednesday that the demonization from the White House wasn’t just un-American but un-Christian, too.

“What Donald Trump is doing is not only anti-American,” said Scarborough. “I will just say this as a guy that was raised in the southern Baptist church, at least based on the bible I read, the gospels that I read, the good samaritan story that I read, it’s un-Christ like what’s going on here.”

“History will look back and Americans will look back with shame that we ever had a president like this,” Scarborough lamented. “The statue of liberty, it’s still in New York Harbor. It’s still stands for what makes this country great. Out of many, one. That has been our history for years and years, for over 200 years.”

Though Trump — a thrice married New York City real estate billionaire — has never claimed to be a biblical scholar, he made a notable effort to reach out to Christian and evangelical voters who returned the favor by supporting him to the hilt in 2016. During a speech while a candidate, Trump told an audience at Liberty University that he was fond of the bible’s “Two Corinthians” — a mispronunciation of “Second Corinthians,” which drew laugher from the crowd.

The president’s language on the migrant caravan that began in Central America earlier this month has been much clearer. On Twitter, Trump has railed against the migrants, promoting tough Fox News coverage of the event and even warning to send the military to the border if need be.

“For those who want and advocate for illegal immigration, just take a good look at what has happened to Europe over the last 5 years. A total mess! They only wish they had that decision to make over again,” said Trump Wednesday morning in his latest pronouncement on the matter.

Joe Scarborough Says Trump Is ‘Not Man Enough’ to Stand Up to Saudi Arabia: ‘He’s Kowtowing’

The set of “Morning Joe” didn’t take kindly to President Trump’s suggestion Monday that Washington Post columnist Jamal  Khashoggi might have been murdered by “rogue killers” — with both Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski in turn suggesting that Trump was weak.

“Just like he did in Helsinki. You have a guy who is scared of KGB agents, not man enough to stand up to former KGB agents and not man enough to stand up to Saudi sheikhs. That’s what we have in a president?” Scarborough asked.

“I thought he was going to be a strong leader. Instead he’s kowtowing and letting these people, letting these autocrats, letting these tyrants kill journalists in the light of day,” he continued.

Brzezinski was in complete agreement.

‘This is vintage Trump. Sowing doubt, propping up dictators and people who are cruel and people who are clearly on the side of wrong,” she said. “It hurts America and it certainly makes him look like a weak leader. So weak it’s painful.

“What ever they have on him better be worth it because he looks like a bumbling idiot,” she added. “Feckless.”

The “Morning Joe” segment comes amid growing questions surrounding the disappearance of Khashoggi, who vanished on Oct. 2. He was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Turkish officials have said they believe the writer was murdered by the kingdom and dismembered with a bone saw by a 15-man team sent in specifically for the job, the New York Times reported.

Saudi Arabia has categorically denied the allegations, but reports emerged Monday that the country was preparing a report to admit they had in fact killed Khashoggi by accident as part of a botched interrogation. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is currently in Riyadh to discuss the issue.

The Khashoggi situation has resulted in catastrophic fallout for Saudi Arabia, with organizations as varied as museums to the WWE facing pressure to disassociate. The nation’s Future Investment Initiative conference later this month has been racked by cancellations — particularly from media partners. So far, the New York Times, CNN, CNBC, the Financial Times and Bloomberg have all dropped out.

Fox Business remains committed to the event and last told TheWrap that their involvement was “under review.”

“Who is stupid enough to believe that. I just gotta ask the question? Who is stupid enough to believe that,” Scarborough thundered after playing a clip of President Trump falsely accusing Hillary Clinton of colluding with Russia during the 2016 campaign.

“Who does Donald Trump believe in that audience is so stupid as to believe that? And why does he continue insulting people that spend a lot of time going to his rallies? He’s making fools of them and I feel really bad for them because he is such a snake oil salesman.”

Admittedly, it was one of Trump’s bigger fibs when he told an audience in Pennsylvania Wednesday that Hillary Clinton has in fact colluded with Russia to undermine him during the 2016 campaign.

“There was collusion between Hillary, the Democrats and Russia,” he said. “There was collusion, there’s no question.”

The line was too much for Clinton, who offered her own burn on Twitter.

“Seriously, you asked Russia to hack me on national television,” she said.

Joe Scarborough Calls Trump Attack on George Soros ‘Anti-Semitic’ (Video)

Joe Scarborough accused President Trump of engaging in ant-semitism on Monday’s “Morning Joe,” saying his Friday tweet accusing George Soros of paying Brett Kavanaugh protesters was an old “trick.”

“That’s a very old, tired, anti-semitic — very old anti-semitic trick that people have claimed, usually on the internet,” he said.

Also on set was Mika Brzezinski, who read Trump’s tweet on air.

“The very rude elevator screamers are paid professionals only looking to make senators look bad. Don’t fall for it! Also, look at all of the professionally made identical signs,” she read, quoting the president. “Paid for by Soros and others. These are not signs made in the basement from love!”

In the hours before Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed by the Senate to serve on the Supreme Court on Saturday, Washington D.C. was overrun by protesters. While pro-Kavanaugh Americans were also present, the loudest voices were overwhelmingly represented by anti-Kavanaugh forces looking to pressure wavering senators like Jeff Flake and Susan Collins to vote against him.

Kavanaugh faced multiple accusations of sexual assault from incidents more than three decades ago. He has categorically denied all of the charges.

Soros has lent his considerable resources to liberal causes for decades and the hedge fund billionaire has been criticized by many Republicans who have accused him of all manner of nefarious activities. Over the years, commentators like Scarborough have blamed “anti-semitism” for the Soros fixation, though Republicans who attack him have strenuously denied it.

On-air Brzezinski called the charges that Soros’ money was funding protesters “false” but reporting from the conservative Daily Caller suggests that at least some amount of his money was being funneled to activists to pay for legal bills.

Joe Scarborough Slams ‘Mainstream Media’ Over Kavanaugh Coverage: ‘So One-Sided’

Joe Scarborough said he wouldn’t vote for Brett Kavanaugh if he were a senator, but that doesn’t mean he’s happy about how the judge is being treated in the wake of multiple sexual misconduct accusations against him.

On Wednesday, the “Morning Joe” host slammed the “mainstream media” and accused it of “one-sided” coverage, saying that fair questions about the accuracy of Christine Blasey Ford’s story should be part of the 24/7 news cycle. Scarborough described attending an event in which many participants wanted to know more answers than the media was providing.

“Quite a few people that we talked to — a lot of them were registered Democrats — raised questions about Dr. Ford’s story. That’s something in 24/7 news coverage, at least in mainstream media … they won’t talk about it.”

“If anybody sticks their neck out and says that they disbelieve any part of her story or they talk about how there are no corroborating witnesses, they’ll get absolutely slammed,” he continued. “The media coverage of this has been so one-sided, it has been so biased. There has been the presumption from the very beginning that every single allegation made against the judge was true.”

Once on a smooth path to the Supreme Court, Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination was throw into turmoil after Ford came forward to accuse him of sexually assaulting her at a party in the early 1980s. She testified publicly about the alleged assault last Thursday. Two other women have also come forward with stories of how Kavanaugh engaged in sexual misconduct against them around the same period.

The judge has categorically denied all of the allegations, also publicly doing so to the Senate Judiciary Committee. In equal parts angry and weepy testimony, Kavanaugh said the allegations had “destroyed” his family and were part of an orchestrated plot against him by Senate Democrats as revenge for his work in the 1990s investigating Bill Clinton.

Joe Scarborough Mocks Michael Avenatti: ‘Sounded Like Lionel Hutz on ‘The Simpsons’

Joe Scarborough doesn’t think much of the idea of President Michael Avenatti, telling his audience on Monday that the attorney representing Stormy Daniels and Kavanaugh accuser Julie Swetnick acted more like a cartoon lawyer than a presidential candidate.

“He sounded like Lionel Hutz on ‘The Simpsons’ last night,” he said speaking of a lengthy interview Avenatti gave to MSNBC anchor Kasie Hunt. “He was advertising his law firm on your show more than it seemed he was running for president, but we shall see.”

Scarborough — a lawyer himself — then did his best impression of a fast talking, “if you’ve been injured,” Lionel Hutz-esque tort attorney.

Once one of the most beloved and regularly occurring member of the Simpsons universe, the character of Lionel Hutz was retired after the death of actor Phil Hartman, who voiced him for the show. He hasn’t been seen in an episode since Season 12.

Avenatti, a TV hungry attorney who has been likened to a Democratic Trump, has made no secret of his presidential ambitions, teasing the prospect very publicly and already making pilgrimages to key primary states.

“People are very enthusiastic about the potential of me running and if there’s a need I’m going to run because there’s too much at stake in 2020,” he told Don Lemon just weeks ago. “The Democrats cannot afford to take the approach they’ve taken in elections past and nominate someone who is not a fighter.”

As Stormy Daniels fades from headlines, Avenatti has persisted in the news, prominently taking on a client, Julie Swetnick, now accusing Judge Kavanaugh of participating in gang rapes during drunken parties in the early 1980s.

Kavanaugh has categorically denied all allegations against him and the Senate Judiciary Committee has so far dismissed the Avenatti claims. An FBI probe launched on Friday has no plan to investigate Swetnick — for now.

‘Morning Joe’ Hits GOP After Kavanaugh Hearings: ‘Republicans Treat Americans Stupid’

“Morning Joe” lashed out at Republican senators on Friday over their refusal to launch an FBI investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against Brett Kavanaugh, saying their decision was motivated by their fear of having Kavanaugh’s old friend Mark Judge speak to the organization.

“They don’t want the FBI to talk to Mark Judge. The whole world knows that and Republicans treat Americans stupid when they pretend it’s anything else other than that,” said show co-host Joe Scarborough on Friday. “It makes no sense that he and every Republican are afraid to have an FBI [investigation].”

Both Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski said they found Kavanaugh and his accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford to be highly persuasive witnesses.

“Extremely compelling, extremely painful,” Brzezinski said of Ford’s testimony. “I cried. I head tears in my eyes during the opening statements.” Scarborough also said he cried during the more than nine hours of hearings.

On Thursday Kavanaugh issued a forceful, defiant and emotional denial of both Ford’s allegation that he tried to rape her in the early 1980s and other women who have come forward alleging sexual misconduct.

“Sexual assault is horrific. It is morally wrong. It is illegal. It is contrary to my religious faith. And it contradicts the core promise of this nation that all people are created equal and entitled to be treated with dignity and respect,” said Kavanaugh. “I never did anything remotely resembling what Dr. Ford describes.”

The various allegations swirling around Kavanaugh have thrown his nomination to the Supreme Court into turmoil. Republicans with a 51 seat majority can only lose two senators (assuming Democrats all vote no). Media outlets Thursday widely reported that Republicans including Jeff Flake, Bob Corker, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski have all been wavering on the nomination and it remains unclear how the final vote will go.

Kavanaugh is expected to have a Judiciary Committee vote on Friday and it’s an open question as to whether he will receive the recommendation of the panel to move forward.

Joe Scarborough Slams Democrats for ‘Outing’ Kavanaugh Accuser: ‘So Offensive’ (Video)

Joe Scarborough put on his former GOP Congressman hat on Thursday, blasting Democratic senators on the Judiciary Committee for “outing” Brett Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford against her wishes at the 11th hour.

“What is so offensive about the way the Democrats outed Dr. Ford this time is they waited until their hearings were over,” he said on “Morning Joe.”

“They waited until they basically put their finger up in the political winds and they knew that Kavanaugh was going to pass, and then somebody on the Senate Judiciary Committee, or perhaps out of a democratic congresswoman’s office, said ‘well, it looks like he’s going to pass, we’re going to shove this lady out of the closet and basically identify her,’” he said.

Scarborough believes it was the second time in living memory that Democratic senators on the committee had botched an accusation against a nominee — alluding to the 1991 allegations against Clarence Thomas by Anita Hill.

Though Ford finally went public on Sunday with her allegation that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her while drunk at a party in the early 1980s, she told her senator, Democrat Diane Feinstein, in a letter months ago. Though Ford requested Feinstein keep the allegation quiet, it’s unclear what, if anything, the Senator did to alert relevant parties before Kavanaugh was nominated.

Kavanaugh has categorically denied any wrongdoing.

Still, the allegations spooked the Senate Judiciary committee enough to delay a planned vote on Kavanaugh on Thursday. Both Kavanaugh and Ford have been invited to offer additional testimony under oath next week, though Ford’s attorney has said that her client would prefer to speak after a full FBI investigation of her accusations — something GOP senators are so far resisting.

‘Morning Joe’ Says Kavanaugh Accuser Must Testify: ‘There Is No Other Way Around It’

The set of “Morning Joe” was largely unsympathetic to news that Brett Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford was looking to delay offering sworn testimony until an FBI investigation could review her accusations.

On set, co-host Mika Brzezinski — a frequent champion of MeToo causes — said Republicans would have no choice but to call for a vote if Ford did not speak on Monday.

“If she doesn’t want to speak, if she doesn’t want to testify, you have to wonder what the Republicans are supposed to do except demand a vote,” said Brzezinski. “This is something that happened in high school. This is going to need her voice. There’s no other way around it. No one can do it for her. As miserable as that may be.”

“This is what “Me too” is all about,” she added. “Nobody wants to be on the wrong side of this. So everyone said let her speak, let her testify. Give her a moment to have her voice. Let’s hear her story.”

Kavanaugh had been on track for a smooth — if partisan — nomination to the Supreme Court until Ford went public with a detailed sexual assault allegation him in the Washington Post on Sunday. In her accusation, Ford said Kavanaugh assaulted her while drunk at a high school party in the early 1980s.

Kavanaugh has categorically denied the allegation, but the Republican-controlled Senate judiciary committee was spooked enough to delay a planned vote on his nomination this week in order to allow both Kavanaugh and Ford to offer additional testimony on Monday. That plan was thrown into turmoil after Ford’s lawyer said this week that her client wanted to avoid a hearing until an FBI investigation into her claims could be completed.

So far the White House has remained steadfastly behind Kavanaugh, with the president telling reporters yesterday that “this is not a man who deserves this” and reminding his followers on Twitter yesterday about how important to the Supreme Court was to his election.

The Supreme Court is one of the main reasons I got elected President. I hope Republican Voters, and others, are watching, and studying, the Democrats Playbook.

‘Morning Joe’ Mocks Trump Legal Team: ‘Everybody Knows That Rudy Giuliani is Lying’

The set of “Morning Joe” gave a negative assessment of Rudy Giuliani’s latest Sunday morning show performance on Monday, saying that history would not judge the former New York City mayor kindly for his role defending President Donald Trump.

“Everybody knows that Rudy Giuliani is lying, even Trump,” said co-host Joe Scarborough of Trump’s attorney. “The most hardcore Trump supporter knows that he’s lying.”

On Sunday, Giuliani told “Meet The Press” host Chuck Todd on the program that the “truth isn’t truth.” The moment, emerging during one of Giuliani’s characteristic defenses of the president, had Todd chuckling in disbelief. The NBC host warned that the line would become a “bad meme” for Giuliani in the future.

Scarborough said it reminded him of Bill Clinton’s request during the Monica Lewinsky hearings two decades ago about what the definition of “is” is.

Also on set was historian Jon Meacham, who also warned that history wouldn’t be kind to Giuliani.

“We’re through the looking glass,” said Meacham. “History is not going to reward Mayor Giuliani for the way he spent his Sundays in 2017 and 2018.”

“I see Trump talking to mirrors and Rudy,” he added, suggesting madness in the West Wing. “He’s just wandering around talking to himself creating this.”

In May, he departed from longtime White House talking points when he admitted to Sean Hannity that President Trump did, in fact, pay Stormy Daniels in October in exchange for her signing an NDA. Before Giuliani’s reveal, the prevailing line had been that Trump’s fixer, Michael Cohen, had fronted the money from his own pocket without repayment.

Joe Scarborough Slams Trump Media Attacks: ‘This is What Autocrats Do’

Joe Scarborough disapproved of the latest display of anti-media rhetoric by Trump supporters in Tampa, Florida last night, saying on Wednesday that the president’s habit of stirring the sentiment was reminiscent of “autocrats.”

“Let’s just say it. This is what autocrats do,” said the “Morning Joe” co-host. “This is what autocrats do because they hate anybody that’s fact-based and holds them to power. People that don’t want their power checked do exactly what Donald Trump does to the free press.”

Andrea Mitchell, who was on set, said that she had never seen any comparable press hostility from all the other presidents that she’s covered.

“I’ve covered seven American presidents in all these years and none of them have liked the press,” she said. “It’s always been adversarial. There’s been tensions, but they welcomed it and tolerated it, even during the worst of times even when we went through impeachment.”

“Lord knows Bill Clinton did not love the press,” she added.

On Tuesday, Trump supporters were out in force for the president’s rally in Tampa and directed their wrath at CNN’s Jim Acosta. The reporter, who has become a target for Trump, tweeted about the experience and warned that someone was going to get hurt if this behavior continued.

“Just a sample of the sad scene we faced at the Trump rally in Tampa,” said Acosta after tweeting a video of hecklers. “I’m very worried that the hostility whipped up by Trump and some in conservative media will result in somebody getting hurt. ‘Morning Joe’: Mika Brzezinski Blasts ‘Pathetic’ Rudy Giuliani: ‘Get Your Self-Respect Back’

The set of “Morning Joe” offered a new round of mockery for President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani on Tuesday over another series of interviews the former New York City mayor gave to the media on Monday.

“I’ve watched a couple of the interviews and it’s been painful. I’m sorry. It’s pathetic,” said co-host Mika Brzezinski. “At some point you need to get your self-respect back.”

“Honestly, his family should step in,” she continued. “Family needs to step in. Someone needs to step in.”

“Throw grandpa from the train,” added Joe Scarborough in a reference to the 1987 Danny DeVito classic.

On Monday, Giuliani again made the rounds on television offering a series of new revelations and bombshells to careful watchers of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

On the set of Fox News’ “Outnumbered” Monday, Giuliani suggested that a second Trump Tower meeting between Team Trump and the Russians may have taken place and that the president’s legal team was working furiously to keep the information from being reported.

“There was another meeting that has been leaked but hasn’t been in public yet,” he said to the stunned hosts. “That was a meeting — an alleged meeting — three days before, according to Cohen … he says there was a meeting with Donald Jr., with Jared Kushner, with Paul Manafort, with Gates and possibly two others.”

On CNN and Fox News earlier that day, Giuliani curiously insisted that collusion wasn’t even a crime anyway.

“I don’t even know if that’s a crime — colluding with Russians,” he told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota. “Hacking is the crime. The president didn’t hack. He didn’t pay for the hacking.”

Joe Scarborough: Trump Leads ‘The Most Corrupt Administration in Modern History’ (Video)

Joe Scarborough ripped President Donald Trump on Tuesday morning, bluntly declaring that he and his administration were the most corrupt the republic had ever seen in modern times.

The moment came after Scarborough rattled off a lengthy list of Trump ethics scandals since he took office in 2017.

“Of course the list could go on and on and on,” said Scarborough. “This is the most corrupt administration in modern history.”

Among the scandals that Scarborough listed were Secret Service hotel bills at Mar-a-Lago and Trump doubling his resort’s initiation fee after he became president, the time Kellyanne Conway hawked Ivanka Trump products on live television from the White House lawn and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross’ suspicious decision to hold on to stocks linked to Russian companies which he previously said he divested from.

Scarborough’s decision to list Trump’s scandals came after news emerged on Monday that the president was considering revoking security clearances for several high-level Obama-era intelligence officials in what immediately looked like a purely partisan move.

The co-host mocked an explanation by White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, who accused the officials of “monetizing their public service and security clearances.” Several of the targeted intel officers including John Brennan, Michael Hayden and James Clapper have all become vocal Trump critics on MSNBC since he took office.

“Now it’s true — and it has been true — the private sector does reward high-level officials for their expertise and access after years of service,” said Scarborough. “But as we said, the key word is ‘after’ years of service.”

‘Morning Joe’ Calls Trump ‘a Weak Dumpy Stooge’ After Helsinki Summit With Putin

The set of “Morning Joe” was outraged Tuesday over President Trump’s joint press conference with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki yesterday, with co-host Joe Scarborough ripping Trump in sharply personal terms.

“He has an opportunity to show fealty to our republic, instead what he showed was fecklessness towards Russia,” said Scarborough.

“He had a chance to show courage in the face of a tyrant, instead he showed cowardice on that world stage where the president looked like a weak dumpy stooge to a KGB spy.”

The line came during a fiery opening monologue where he lambasted Trump’s performance in Finland.

“There is no parallel,” said Scarborough of President Trump’s continued skepticism of the Russian meddling campaign. “FDR after Pearl Harbor didn’t deny that there was an attack. George W. Bush didn’t deny Al-Qaeda’s attack on September 11th.”

The Scarborough analysis broadly echoed remarks Monday and early Tuesday that the joint presser was a disaster. On “Fox & Friends,” the criticism was a bit more gentle but still evident.

“Thanks to Robert Mueller’s probe we know the names of the 12 people at least on the Russian side, who were part of the hacking into the election,” said co-host Brian Kilmeade on set Tuesday. “When President Trump was asked about that, he fell short.”

At one point, Kilmeade offered his criticism directly to Trump on the assumption that he was watching.

During his remarks with Putin, Trump stunned onlookers by publicly questioning U.S. intelligence agencies’ assessment of Russian meddling in 2016 and at various points appeared to side with Putin at critical moments under tough questioning by the U.S. media.

‘Morning Joe’ Praises Brett Kavanaugh: ‘Not a Wild Judge Jeanine Pirro Pick’

The set of “Morning Joe” offered a warm review of Judge Brett Kavanaugh, President Donald Trump’s pick to replace the retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court.

In the opening minutes of Tuesday’s show, the regulars on set took turns praising the Bush-era judge who has been a fixture in D.C. for more than a decade.

“The truth of the matter is that where there are places progressives will disagree on guns, abortion and presidential power. This is not a wild Judge Jeanine Pirro pick as some were fearing,” said Willie Geist. “This is an eminently qualified guy — and again you can disagree with his positions on certain issues — but this is a guy who is qualified for this job.”

“Senate Democrats were going to put up a fight whoever this was. We know that that fight is coming. They already talked about that last night,” he added.

“He’s such a mainstream pick,” Joe Scarborough said. “It is hard to paint him as a wild-eyed ideologue.”

Mike Barnicle added that it would please Susan Collins and other wavering pro-life Republicans, former RNC chief Michael Steele said Kavanaugh’s history as a former altar boy gave them an instant connection.

The Kavanaugh announcement puts to rest a week of speculation about who President Trump would tap to replace Kennedy, who has served on the high court for 30 years.

Trump, a former reality television star, kept the tension going until the final moments, and refused to give anyone around him a straight answer on who the final pick was. News only leaked out minutes before the announcement after Kavanaugh’s parents were spotted in the audience at the White House.

Joe Scarborough Calls Trump White House ‘Most Corrupt Administration in the History of Our Lifetime’

Joe Scarborough laced into Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani on Monday’s “Morning Joe” with a broadside that included a partial accounting some of his clients greatest scandals. The MSNBC host said it all added up to official corruption of historic proportions.

“This is the most corrupt administration in the history of our life time, certainly over the first year and a half,” said Scarborough. “[Giuliani] will tell you he’s been knighted by the Queen of England.”

Coming in at nearly ten minutes in length, Scarborough reminded viewers of Former Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price’s private jets, the former energy contracts given to company from the same town as Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and Scott Pruitt’s mile long list of questionable activities.

There was Trump University, and payments to Stormy Daniels, three indictments in the Russia investigation and — lest we forget — former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who is now currently sitting in solitary confinement.

The scandal string was inspired by comments Giuliani made to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos saying President Trump wanted to answer questions under oath, but that how could he trust such a “corrupt” investigation.

“He wants to testify,” said the former NYC mayor. “It’s hard to believe given all the things that have been shown about how tainted this investigation is. This is the most corrupt investigation I have ever seen.”

Scarborough — as is his custom — defended Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s honor.

“We certainly know that Robert Mueller is not corrupt.” said Scarborough “We certainly know he is a marine, a war hero, a guy who [unlike] Donald Trump didn’t skip out on serving this country, claiming deferments and bone spurs.”

Since returning to Trumps’ orbit as his new lead attorney, Giuliani has become a renewed fixture on television, occasionally making news and routinely promising anyone who will listen that he will bring the Russia collusion investigation to a close.

‘Morning Joe’: Trump Lies About Crowd Sizes Because ‘There’s a Compensation Issue’ (Video)

The set of “Morning Joe” offered a new theory for why President Trump had a tendency to inflate the size of his cheering crowds, with hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski suggesting on air that the president might be “compensating” for something else.

“He always lies about crowd size,” said Brzezinski. “There’s a compensation issue. It’s like a really sleek sports car. That’s what a big crowd is to him.”

“He’s trying to compensate,” Scarborough concurred talking under his breath as Mika spoke. “Huge compensation.”

Mercifully, both hosts declined to dive any further into that line of speculation.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, President Trump openly rebutted attacks against his manhood, memorably telling Sen. Marco Rubio during a debate that there was “no problem” there.

“[Rubio] referred to my hands if they’re small, something else must be small,” said Trump. “I guarantee you there’s no problem. I guarantee you.”

The “Morning Joe” hosts issued the compensation barb in response to President Trump’s rally in Montana last night in which he did do his best to puff up the crowd size, telling those gathered that it was comparable to an Elton John concert.

“I’ve broken more Elton John [attendance] records, and I don’t have a musical instrument. I don’t have a guitar, or an organ,” he said Thursday evening in the Treasure state. “This is my only musical instrument – the mouth – and hopefully the brain is attached to the mouth. The brain is so much more important.”

In the past, Trump has ordered his surrogates to inflate numbers as well, most memorably Sean Spicer, who spent his first day as press secretary falsely insisting that President Trump’s inauguration had produced the largest crowds in history.

The set of “Morning Joe” mocked Alan Dershowitz on Thursday over the news this week that the Harvard Law professor was being shunned in Martha’s Vineyard’s social scene because of his outspoken defense of Donald Trump on Fox News.

“Unfortunately the scourge of McCarthyism is back,” said show co-host Joe Scarborough. ‘The Boston Globe says that Alan Dershowitz is receiving the cold should in the Vineyard.”

Co-host Mika Brzezinski wasn’t too surprised.

“Ohhhh,” she said sarcastically. “Can you believe it? He can’t even go to Martha’s Vineyard. This is wrong.”

“As my grandmother would say, Alan, when you lie down with dogs you get up with fleas,” added Scarborough adding a touch of seriousness.

Earlier this week, Dershowitz ignited what has become days of mocking after complaining about being excluded from the island’s social life.

“I am a liberal Democrat in politics… but that is not good enough for some of my old friends on Martha’s Vineyard. For them, it is enough that what I have said about the Constitution might help Trump. So they are shunning me and trying to ban me from their social life on Martha’s Vineyard,” he wrote in The Hill Monday.

When asked about the matter, Dershowitz remained defiant, telling the “Curtis and Cosby” radio show that he wore the rejection like “a red badge of courage,” and suggested he would remember the slights when the same people came calling for legal advice for their miscreant children.

“These are people who have asked me for help over the years, who have asked me for support when their kid gets busted on a marijuana charge, or on possession of alcohol, I’m the first one they call,” he said. “But as soon as I defend the rights of Donald Trump or anybody else they disagree with, I’m am a pariah.”
