Former ‘American Idol’ Host Brian Dunkleman Torches TMZ for Revealing He’s Now an Uber Driver

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Many people in Hollywood’s Thirty-Mile Zone (that’s what “TMZ” stands for, folks) may be afraid to take on gossip website TMZ and its founder Harvey Levin, but ex-“American Idol” host Brian Dunkleman is not among them.

After TMZ posted this story revealing that the former TV partner to Ryan Seacrest now drives for Uber, Dunkleman didn’t shy away from injecting a few more facts into the narrative.

“I chose to stop doing standup comedy and started driving an Uber so I could be there for my son as much as he needed after our life as we knew it was destroyed,” Dunkleman wrote on Twitter to TMZ and its boss Harvey Levin. “Print that.”

“And I make over a grand on a good week motherf–kers,” he added atop the hashtag #HumanBarnacles.

Dunkleman’s girlfriend, Andrea Whitney, also backed her boy up on the social media platform, posting a photo of the former Fox personality cuddling with his son on a hike.

“This is why he’s an Uber driver,” she wrote. “F–k you TMZ.”

Whitney also included her own hashtag: #ImInLoveWithAnUberDriver, along with a photo of herself in a bikini, captioning it: “This is what an Uber driver’s girlfriend looks like.” She then again verbally flipped off the news and gossip site.

Per TMZ’s story, Dunkleman, who is in the middle of a divorce battle with Kalea Dunkleman, disclosed in court documents that he started driving for Uber in March 2016. Brian and Kalea currently share custody of their five-year-old son, Jackson.

It may soon be “Final Jeopardy” for the show’s longtime host, Alex Trebek.

During an interview with TMZ, Trebek was asked about the likelihood of his departure from the game show after his contract expires in 2020. He described the odds of him leaving as “50/50.. and a little less.”

Levin was interviewing the game show host for his Fox News series, “OBJECTified.” Trebek, a Canadian, has hosted “Jeopardy” since it was revived for syndication in 1984, sporting his trademark mustache during most of that time.

“Jeopardy” is produced by Sony Pictures Television and distributed by CBS Television Distribution. Sony Pictures TV did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Kathy Griffin posted a video to Twitter on Saturday detailing her beef with TMZ founder Harvey Levin and former boss Andy Cohen.

The comic, who faced intense criticism earlier this year for a photo depicting the severed head of Donald Trump, said that Levin helped fuel that fire.

“I just want you guys to know Harvey Levin, Harvey Levin a blogger, is very much in bed with everyone from Hollywood to Donald Trump,” she said. “Doesn’t that bother you, that the president of the United States is talking to a gossip blogger?”

“They have done hit pieces on me to the point where it’s actually affected my career,” she said. “Harvey Levin, have you ever done anything honorable, ever?”

She played a voice message that Levin left her requesting a conversation that included his personal phone number. She said she released his number because when she was under investigation, her personal information was leaked, along with the information of her mother and sister. She said that because she posted his phone number, she’s sure the video will be taken down. “Who the f— do you think you are?” she said to Levin.

“I know the haters are gonna say, well if you can’t take it, don’t dish it out,” Griffin continued.

She said people like Harvey Levin and Andy Cohen “live to take women down,” and “we need to speak up about” them. She noted that many TMZ stories about women “are all about their cellulite. And the ageism is out of control.”

Trump Takes Meeting With TMZ’s Harvey Levin (Report)

President Donald Trump reportedly took a meeting with TMZ’s Harvey Levin last week.

The founder of the Los Angeles-based celebrity gossip site was invited to the White House to meet with the president sometime last week, according to a report by TMZ did not immediately return TheWrap’s request for comment.

Levin had previously interviewed Trump last September for a one-hour Fox News Channel special titled “OBJECTified: Donald Trump.” The interview aired in November, shortly after Trump won the 2016 presidential election.

The news of the meeting was reported by Taryn Hillin of the media site Entity, who worked at TMZ until 2013.

Levin, a Hollywood lawyer, reporter and legal analyst, founded the celebrity news site TMZ in 2005. He also hosts “TMZ Live,” the website’s televised counterpart. Following the one-off special, Fox News gave Levin a 10-episode order for an “OBJECTified” series.

The meeting with Levin comes amid the Trump administration’s ongoing battle with the media, including personal tweets from the president labelling outlets including CNN, the New York Times and NBC News the “enemy of the American people.”

Last month, reporters from CNN, the New York Times, Politico and a variety of other major news organizations were blocked from attending the White House press briefing. Journalists from other outlets, including Time magazine and the Associated Press, boycotted the briefing to protest the exclusion.

The organizations shut out of the briefing were quick to denounce the action, calling it “unacceptable.”  New York Times executive editor Dean Baquet said in a statement, “Nothing like this has ever happened at the White House in our long history of covering multiple administrations of different parties. We strongly protest the exclusion of The New York Times and the other news organizations. Free media access to a transparent government is obviously of crucial national interest.”

Harvey Levin’s Top Lieutenant Leaves TMZ After Newsroom Fight (Exclusive)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Harvey Levin’s right-hand man Mike Walters quit TMZ after the two very nearly came to blows in front of the newsroom shortly before Christmas, TheWrap has learned from multiple sources close to the situation.

Sources said it started because Levin didn’t want to re-negotiate the contract of Liz Walters, who is Mike’s sister and ran the company’s court reporting beat. Levin referred to her as “shady” to the entire staff and Walters immediately confronted him, needing to be physically restrained by staffers.

TheWrap learned that Levin repeatedly shouted “shady” during the altercation, and Mike Walters packed up his stuff and left the office without returning.

Liz has also left the company.

TMZ did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Mike Walters had been with TMZ for 13 years and wore many hats, including news director and executive producer of “TMZ Live.” Walters, who once said it sounded like a fart when his son was born, was a fan favorite among viewers of “TMZ on TV.”

Insiders say Walters was very important to Levin, as most of the people there strictly take orders but Walters has deep sources in the law enforcement community surrounding Los Angeles. His father is a deputy sheriff in Orange County and Walters often broke news related to arrests and criminal activity.

Tucker Carlson Cuts Off Guest for ‘Misleading People’ About Russia Influencing Election

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson recently told TheWrap his opinion changes if a guest makes a “particularly good argument,” but that was not the case on Tuesday night when he cut off a man who failed to cite any evidence of Russia interfering in the presidential election.

Professor and Huffington Post columnist Robert McElvaine appeared on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” to discuss his recent posts about Russia influencing the election to benefit Donald Trump.

McElvaine recently wrote that “there is substantial evidence” that Russia stole the election for Trump, so the conservative Carlson asked, “What is that evidence?”

McElvaine answered by explaining that WikiLeaks damaged Hillary Clinton and that Trump lost the popular vote, but Carlson pressed.

“How did Russia steal the election? Please be precise,” Carlson asked.

McElvaine couldn’t come up with a specific example and got defensive. Carlson asked again, but McElvaine continued to avoid the answer while talking over the host.

Carlson eventually said, “You are saying irresponsible things, that are misleading people. And I think it’s wrong. Robert, I’m cutting you off, because I gave you a chance and you refused to be real with me.”

In the first four weeks of the show, “Tucker Carlson Tonight” averaged 2.9 million viewers and 537,000 in the key demo of adults age 25-54, topping CNN’s “Erin Burnett Outfront” and MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews” combined in both categories.

“I’m winnable, for sure. My views are not ossified at all. They change all the time,” Carlson told TheWrap, but it seems McElvaine was not able to win over the Fox News host.

12 Takeaways From Donald Trump’s Interview With Harvey Levin

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

TMZ founder Harvey Levin wanted to show the world Donald Trump like he’s never been seen before in the Fox News special “OBJECTified: Donald Trump” Saturday.

Mission accomplished.

Two months before he became president-elect, Trump opened his Manhattan penthouse to Levin to share cherished childhood memories, the pain of losing a brother to alcoholism and the joy his sons and daughters bring him.

Here are just a few insights into the man who will be POTUS No. 45.

1. Memory Lane is only an off-ramp away in Queens, NY

“Sometimes on my way out to wherever I’m going, I’ll stop because it’s an exit — Utopia Pkwy. I get off the exit and I’ll stop and take a look at the house where I grew up.”

Also Read: Donald Trump Sneaks Out for Dinner, Sparks Transparency Furor

2. He says false stories of his bad behavior began in childhood

One story is that on rainy days he’d take his dad’s limo to deliver newspapers. Another says he hit a music teacher because Trump thought the teacher didn’t know anything about music. “It gets a little exaggerated. That story is all over the place. I hate that story. But, no, that’s not something I would do,” the president-elect said.

3. His father sent him to military school for five years

New York Military Academy was home to a young Trump when he was a teenager, who found Drill Sgt. Theodore Dobias particularly rough. “I remember the first day I went out there, he said, ‘Stand up at attention’ to everybody. And I’m going, like, ‘Give me a break.’”

4. No drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes

Those are the rules Trump has instilled in his five children. Plus, “It’s important to make children understand the value of the dollar, the value of work, the value of work, the value of money, the value of achievement.’

5. Saying “goodbye” to “The Apprentice” was not easy

“Turning down a continuation was a tough decision for me. I remember [show creator] Mark Burnett said, ‘They want to renew you.’ I said, ‘No. I don’t want to be renewed. We are going to run for president.’”

6. He almost had a career in professional baseball?

The show says the Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox scouted Trump at one point.

7. Sports is a “microcosm of life”

“You learn so much from sports because it’s just sort of a microcosm of life, except one thing — you have a winner and you have a loser and it takes place in a short period of time. With life it’s meandering.”

8. He says he is not a sore loser

“Well, I don’t like losing, but I don’t think I’m a sore loser. You know, it’s interesting — if somebody else plays great or does something great, I feel much better then if I lose it. I don’t want to lose it.”

9. His brother Freddy’s death from alcoholism had a lasting effect

“I’ve never had a drink because of my brother. If you don’t start, you’re never going to have a problem. If you do start, you may have a problem. And it’s a tough problem to stop.”

10. What he really wanted to do was produce films

“I wanted to make motion pictures. I absolutely did. I was going to apply to USC film school. I was absolutely going to do that. I loved that. I liked the glamour of movies.”

11. A big ego? Nah

Trump steaks, water, fragrance, vodka, home furnishings, men’s accessories, board games, buildings and more. The Trump name is on everything. “It’s not ego. I love doing it. I just have fun. We have a period of time on earth and we like to do a good job.”

12. He says he just wants to win

“I’m somebody that likes to help people. I like to see things done right. But above all, I want to make life good for a lot of people not just myself. I’ve won so much, I’ve won enough for myself. I want to win for the country now.”
