Satan is coming to Amazon’s “Good Omens” and he’ll be voiced by none other than Benedict Cumberbatch.
Neil Gaiman made the announcement Wednesday during the Television Critics Association press tour. The character will be a “400-foot high” CGI creation, added Douglas MacKinnon and will show up in episode six. Frances McDormand is already on board to play the Voice of God.
During the show’s TCA panel, Gaiman also announced that the adaptation of his and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel will premiere all six episodes on Friday, May 31.
“Good Omens” stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant as an angel and demon, respectfully, who form an unlikely friendship over centuries of living comfortably on Earth. Jon Hamm is also in the show, playing the Archangel Gabriel.
Set as the end of the world approaches, the series follows fussy Angel Aziraphale (Sheen) and a loose-living Demon Crowley (Tennant) who are forced to form an unlikely alliance to stop Armageddon as the end of the world approaches. When they lose the Antichrist — an 11-year-old boy unaware he’s meant to bring upon the end of days – they are forced to embark on an adventure to find him and save the world before it’s too late.
Gaiman serves as showrunner with MacKinnon directing all six episodes.
