Fox just cut three comedies from its lineup: “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “The Mick,” and “Last Man on Earth.”

The call to cancel the trio of sitcoms is tied to Fox’s addition of another night of football to its primetime lineup for the 2018-2019 season and the renewal of a large portion of the network’s freshman series renewed, an individual with knowledge of the programming decision tells TheWrap.

The abrupt axing of the comedies comes just ahead of the series finale of Fox’s long-running Zooey Deschanel-led show “New Girl.”
