Newswire: Japan’s Kirin purchases stake in craft beer darling Brooklyn Brewery

Kirin Holdings, parent company of the Japanese Kirin Brewery, announced Wednesday that they have purchased a 24.5 percent stake in craft beer darlings Brooklyn Brewery.

While news of large, often-multinational corporations snapping up stakes in American craft breweries is common these days (Goose Island comes to mind, and Lagunitas, and Cigar City, and Founders…), craft beer fans might have less to worry about than they think. The purchase—financial terms were not disclosed—gives Kirin a decidedly less-than-controlling share and Brooklyn Brewery’s President Robin Ottaway made the following patently reassuring statement within a letter posted to their in-house blog:
