Dylan Rieder, Pro Skateboarder and Model, Dies at 28

Dylan Rieder, a pro skateboarder and edgy model, lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday. He was 28.

According to a press release obtained by The Ride Channel, Rieder died of complications related to leukemia.

Growing up in Westminster, California, Rieder began skating when he was 9 years old and went on to become a cult figure in the extreme sports world, working for skateboarding companies like Birdhouse, Osiris, Rasa Libre, Quicksilver, Huf, F—ing Awesome and Alien Workshop.

In 2006, he released a part in the skateboarding video “Transworld Skateboarding’s A Time to Shine,” according to The Ride Channel, and then followed with on in “Mind Field” for Alien Workshop in 2009.

The good-looking athlete also carved out a career in modeling. Rieder was featured in DKNY’s spring 2014 ad, where he posed alongside supermodels including Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn.

Two years ago, he was featured in the video for the rock band Supreme’s single  “Cherry.”
