You’ll Never Guess Why Internet Sensation Ken Bone Wore That Red Sweater (Video)

Internet sensation Ken Bone says he wore the now-famous red sweater as a plan B to Sunday’s presidential debate because he “split the seat of my pants wide open.”

“I had a really nice olive suit, that I love a great deal, and my mother would have been proud to see me wearing on television. But, apparently I’ve gained about 30 pounds,” Bone told CNN. “When I went to get in my card the morning of the debate, I split the seat of my pants all the way open. The red sweater is plan B.”

Near the end of the second presidential debate between Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, Bone stood up to ask, “What steps will your energy policy take to meet our energy needs while at the same time remaining environmentally friendly and minimizing job loss for fossil power plant workers?”

His delivery and appearance stole America’s heart, and sparked an immediate onslaught of Internet memes and Twitter comments. Bone’s honesty about his pants splitting has resulted in marriage proposals, other men admitting similar stories, and even people calling on CNN to make him a regular contributor.

“This is everything I hoped it would be,” CNN’s Kyle Blaine said of Bone’s appearance on the network.

Meanwhile, #KenBone is still trending nationally on Twitter the morning after one of the biggest political events in our nation’s history.
