Melania Trump: Husband’s Words ‘Unacceptable and Offensive’

Donald Trump’s wife, Melania, is standing by her man, issuing the following statement Saturday in his defense:

“The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me. This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader. I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world. “

In a conversation released Friday by The Washington Post, Trump boasted about groping women, telling Billy Bush, the “Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush in a conversation that was caught on a hot mic, “I’m automatically attracted to beautiful women — I just start kissing them, it’s like a magnet.”

“I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything,” he said. “Grab ‘em by the p—y.”

The GOP nominee said in a taped message he posted on Facebook on Friday night:

“I’ve never said I’m a perfect person. I’ve said and done things I regret, and the words released today in this more than decade old video are one of them. Anyone who knows me knows these words don’t reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong, and I apologize.”

He added: “I pledge to be a better man tomorrow and will never, ever let you down.”

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Saturday, Trump explained that he feels the commotion over his remarks will blow over.

“I never, ever give up,” Trump told WSJ. “The support I’m getting is unbelievable, because Hillary Clinton is a horribly flawed candidate.”

The WSJ reported that Trump is considering addressing the controversy in a speech prior to Sunday’s second presidential debate.
