‘NCIS’ Renewed by CBS for Season 16, Mark Harmon to Continue as Star and EP

In the no-brainer move of the week, CBS has renewed its massive hit drama “NCIS” for a 16th season. That comes complete with a new contract for star and executive producer Mark Harmon, “America’s Most-Watched Network” said Friday.

“It’s pretty simple — viewers everywhere love ‘NCIS,’” said Kelly Kahl, president of CBS Entertainment. “This show speaks to viewers of all ages, in all parts of the country and around the world. ‘NCIS” amazing characters and terrific storytelling result in some of TV’s most passionate fans.”

“Of course, none of this would be possible without an outstanding production team, and talented cast led by the incomparable and absolutely tireless Mark Harmon,” he continued. “We’re thrilled he is returning as the centerpiece of the show, and we could not be more excited for ‘NCIS” 16th season.”

This season, “NCIS” is averaging 17 million viewers per episode, according to Nielsen’s “most current” data stream, which counts a week of delayed viewing where available. “NCIS” is also a smash hit globally, and is licensed in more than 200 territories.

“NCIS” premiered on CBS in 2003. During the 2009-2010 broadcast season, it became the No. 1 drama on broadcast television, and has held that title for each completed season since.

We”ll know in a few weeks if “NCIS” can make that claim again, or if “This Is Us” stays ahead of it as the most-watched drama of the 2017-18 season.

Perrette, who plays forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on the popular CBS procedural, took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a link to an MSN story about three men agreeing to settle Federal Trade Commission charges surrounding fraudulent internet-marketing practices.

The settlement, which carries a hefty $179 million fine, prohibits the men from using deceptive marketing techniques, including “bogus celebrity endorsements,” according to the FTC statement.

This comes a day after Perrette had tweeted that ads for a skin care line continued to use her image without permission. She added that the misleading promos include “lies” about her leaving “NCIS” to focus on cosmetics.

“They caught ‘em!” the actress tweeted Thursday. “Hopefully these false ads will end now! I DON’T have a skin care line!”

‘NCIS’ Star Pauley Perrette Fires Back Over ‘Lies’ About Why She’s Exiting Show

Don’t believe everything you read about why Pauley Perrette is exiting “NCIS.”

Perrette, who is ending her run as forensic scientist Abby Sciuto at the end of Season 15, is speaking out after noticing that her image has been used without her permission in ads for skin care lines. Some of the promos even claim that Perrette is leaving the hit CBS procedural in order to focus on cosmetics, which the actress says is categorically untrue.

“THE LIES!” Perrette tweeted Tuesday. “EVERYONE asking me about this (FAKE) skin care line? I DON’T HAVE A SKIN CARE LINE! I think facebook Yahoo MSN and all sites making money off fake ads should be liable for posting false ads.”

“It’s a fake company — it’s a scam,” she told the newsmagazine. “I’ve had hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people asking questions about why I would pick a skin care line over my job.”
