Marilyn Manson Rape Case Declined by the DA’s Office

Marilyn Manson will not be charged after being accused of rape and other offenses, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office said Friday.

According to the D.A.’s office, “Antichrist Superstar” rocker Manson was accused of three offenses, all allegedly occurring on October 25, 2011. Manson was also accused of battery and assault with a deadly weapon.

Paperwork from the D.A.’s office noted that the accuser “was acquainted socially” with Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner.

Ultimately, the D.A.’s office declined to pursue battery and assault with a deadly weapon charges because the statutes of limitation had expired.

“Sexual assault charge cannot be filed due to absence of corroboration,” the paperwork noted.

In a statement to TheWrap, Manson’s attorney, Howard E. King, said that the singer “categorically denied” the allegations that had made against him.

King added that the allegations “are either completely delusional or part of a calculated attempt to generate publicity for the claimant’s business of selling Manson memorabilia.”

“Under current policy, the Los Angeles County District Attorney must investigate any claim of sexual abuse, no matter how outlandish. It is not surprising that the District Attorney, after investigation, summarily rejected the claims made in a police report filed by a former acquaintance against Brian Warner p/k/a Marilyn Manson,” King said. “The allegations made to the police were and are categorically denied by Mr. Warner and are either completely delusional or part of a calculated attempt to generate publicity for the claimant’s business of selling Manson memorabilia. The police report that spurred the investigation was accompanied by the woman’s press release and other attempts to generate publicity that fraudulently claimed she was held captive by Mr. Warner for 48 hours in 2011. Any claim of sexual impropriety or imprisonment at that, or any other, time is false.”

On Friday, the D.A.’s office said its sex assault task force had also declined cases against former “Girls” writer Murray Miller and rapper ASAP Bari. The D.A.’s office said that it declined Murray’s case due to the statute of limitations on one charge, and “inconsistencies which cannot be overcome” for a second charge.

In ASAP Bari’s case, the D.A.’s office said that the victim “advised that after consideration, she did not want to proceed with the criminal case, therefore prosecution is declined.”

How Studying Fans of Bjork, The Smiths, MTV’s ‘The Hills’ Helped Power Trump’s Win (Really)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Turns out you can learn a lot about people based on which entertainers, artists or shows they “like” on Facebook… Even how to sway their votes.

A 2015 study of Facebook “likes,” conducted by Stanford University and Cambridge University’s Psychometrics Center — recently highlighted by The New York Times reporting on the Cambridge Analytica scandal — showed how researchers were able to determine people’s personalities based solely on their Facebook “likes.”

Why does that matter? Because it was that very research that the now disgraced Cambridge Analytica used to sway voters during the 2016 presidential race, according to the Times.

For example, people who “liked” Björk and surrealist painter Salvador Dali tended to be the most open-minded, while those who hit the “like” button for MTV’s “The Hills” and country crooner Luke Bryan tended to be least open.

Most conscientious people tended to “like” David E. Kelley’s procedural drama “The Practice,” which ran on ABC from 1997 to 2004, while the least conscientious gravitated toward TV shows like “Adventure Times” and “The Skins.” Most extroverted folks had a soft spot for Waka Flocka Flame and certain “Jersey Shore” cast members, while the least extroverted preferred video games and drawing.

Meanwhile neurotic people “liked” Marilyn Manson and The Smiths. Those least neurotic preferred Sports Center and Derrick Rose.

Those considered “most agreeable” tended to read the “Bible” and listen to Rascal Flatts, while the “least agreeable” went for songs by Placebo and Rammstein.

The study used a Facebook app called myPersonality,” based on a 100-question quiz developed by the Psychometrics Center. According to the Times, the 70,000 people who respondents to the quiz gave the app access not only to their own Facebook profiles but those of all their friends’ as well, allowing researchers to study how the different personality traits related respondents’ “likes” on Facebook.

Analysts then used the data to build an algorithm that could predict people’s behavior based entirely on Facebook “likes.”

The Times reported Saturday that Cambridge Analytica tried to get the algorithm directly from the researchers at the Psychometrics Center but they declined. Instead, the data firm contacted another researcher at Cambridge University who was familiar with the original study to adapt the personality modeling approach.

The firm then went on to harvest data from more than 50 million Facebook users, who weren’t even aware their data was being mined, and used it to target American voters during the 2016 presidential race by mirco-targeting specific ads that played on their fears.

Marilyn Manson, Zoe Saldana Honor Anton Yelchin on Late Actor’s 29th Birthday

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

On what would have been Anton Yelchin’s 29th birthday, his “Star Trek” co-star Zoe Saldana and musician Marilyn Manson paid tribute to the late actor.

“Happy birthday Anton- in our hearts forever,” tweeted Saldana, including a picture of her with Yelchin and fellow “Star Trek” castmates Karl Urban and John Cho.

In J.J. Abrams’ rebooted “Star Trek” trilogy, Yelchin played the Enterprise’s science prodigy Pavel Chekhov, taking over the role made famous by Walter Koenig over 50 years ago. Yelchin died in a freak car accident in June 2016, just a month before the third installment in the series, “Star Trek: Beyond,” was released in theaters. A tribute was included in the film’s credits, and Abrams said that Chekov will not be recast in future films.

Musician Marilyn Manson also noted the day with a touching tweet: “I miss and wish I could be spending Anton Yelchin’s birthday together with him today. A- You will always be remembered. And I’ll miss you brother. I know you would have hated this twitter message. But it is making you laugh somewhere, you genius. M.”

Coincidentally, Yelchin’s birthday comes on the same weekend as his final film, “Thoroughbreds” enters theaters. In the new thriller, Yelchin plays Tim, a hapless, frequently beaten-up drug dealer who gets blackmailed by a rich girl and her emotionless best friend into becoming an accomplice in killing her wretched stepfather. Filming on “Thoroughbreds” was completed two weeks before Yelchin’s death.

13 Stars Who Imagined Violence Against Donald Trump, From Kathy Griffin to Snoop Dogg (Photos)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Since the election, many celebrities have voiced their displeasure over President Trump and his administration. Some have even called for violence. From Robert De Niro to Snoop Dogg, here are nine left-leaning noteworthy people who have incited violence toward Trump and the GOP.

Moby’s latest video is simultaneously nostalgic and dystopian. In 1980s cartoon fashion, a giant Transformer-like Trump morphs into a swastika/dollar sign and wreaks havoc on a city before meeting a fiery, explosive demise.

Madonna admitted to a crowd of thousands at the Women’s March on Washington that she had “thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House.” The singer’s profanity-riddled jab at the largely Republican administration provoked the anger of many conservatives.

Kathy Griffin

This comedienne landed in hot water after photos surfaced of her holding a fake bloody, decapitated Trump head. Griffin was promptly dropped by Squatty Potty and CNN. Trump himself called the photos “sick” and tweeted that his children were “having a hard time” with the images.

New York City Public Theater

This nonprofit theater staged a modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar” that made conservative viewers want to revolt. In the production, a Trump-esque figure is stabbed to death by a band of angry Senators. The Public Theater subsequently lost sponsorships from Delta Airlines and Bank of America.

Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg’s music video for “Lavender” (literally) paints the POTUS as a clown and orchestrates his death. At the video’s end, the “Gin and Juice” rapper points a gun at the harlequin Trump figure and shoots. But instead of a bullet, a red flag that reads “Bang!” fires out of the gun.

Mickey Rourke

In a TMZ video from 2015, this boxer-turned-actor directed his rage toward Trump, calling him a “big-mouthed bitch bully” and saying he would “love 30 seconds in a room with the little bitch.” Rourke has also expressed a desire to “give [Trump] a Louisville slugger.”

Marilyn Manson

Right after the election, shock-rocker Marilyn Manson had to take his turn in the Trump-bashing festivities. In a teaser video for his song, “Say10,” a Trump-like persona wearing a suit and a red tie lies decapitated on a concrete floor, in a pool of his own blood.

Robert De Niro

This actor is not afraid to express his disdain for the Commander in Chief. De Niro confirmed to ABC’s “The View” in February that he would like to punch Trump in the face. He clarified earlier comments, saying “It wasn’t like I was gonna go find him and [really] punch him in the face, but he’s gotta hear it.”

James T. Hodgkinson

James T. Hodgkinson is the man responsible for shooting and injuring several GOP leaders at a recent Congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Va. According to the Washington Post, Hodgkinson worked on Bernie Sanders’ presidential bid.
