‘Stranger Things’ Season 3 Trailer: Summer Lovin’, Teen Angst – and a Seriously Freaky New Monster (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

The long-awaited trailer for Season 3 of “Stranger Things” has finally arrived. And it looks like this year we’ll be trading in the Upside Down for teenage wasteland. Or at least living between the two different horror settings when the Duffer Brothers-created sci-fi series returns to Netflix on the Fourth of July.

The 2-minute, 47-second trailer opens with Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) returning home from some trip to a surprise party hosted by Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Will (Noah Schnapp), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Max (Sadie Sink). And for a kid who has seen some the freakiest supernatural creatures we could imagine, he is unreasonably spooked by the sweet gesture.

The rest of the video is set to The Who’s “Baba O’Riley,” a perfect backdrop to the summer lovin’ and teenage angst the Hawkins crew is going through as they fight puberty and other horrors during their school break.

Additional highlights from the trailer include a hint of romance between David Harbour’s Hopper (with a mustache!) and Joyce (Winona Ryder), a very concerned Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), the introductions of the charming Mayor Kline (Cary Elwes) and Robin (Maya Hawke), Steve’s (Joe Keery) co-worker at Scoops Ahoy who is concerned he doesn’t have any friends his own age.

Oh, and let’s not forget the terrifying new monster that pops up in the Starcourt Mall in front of the gang at the very end there. Gah, rats!

Yeah, the Demogorgon’s got nothing on whatever the heck that thing is.

“Stranger Things” Season 3 launches July 4 on Netflix.

David Boreanaz Says ‘Angel’ Reunion Might Be ‘in the Works’ for 20th Anniversary (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2017 and its spinoff series, “Angel,” is hitting the big 2-0 itself this fall. And in honor of the momentous occasion, David Boreanaz says there is a possibility a reunion might be in the works.

“Well, you know, we’re coming up on our 20 years,” Boreanaz — who played the titular vampire detective on The WB series, after originating the role on “Buffy” — said on “The Talk” Tuesday. “I mean that’s amazing to have been blessed with a show like that. And that’s really where I started my gig in this acting world. And I love that character. So I will say there may be something coming up. I don’t want to give away a lot. But I can say it’s 20 years coming up this fall, and we may have something in the works.”

Boreanaz starred as Angel, Buffy Summers’ (Sarah Michelle Gellar) much-older (by a couple of centuries), bloodsucking love interest, on the first three seasons of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” before spinning off onto “Angel” — also the work of “Buffy” creator Joss Whedon — in October 1999.

Between Dany and her dragons and Melisandre and her love of setting people aflame in the name of the Lord of Light, “Game of Thrones” burns up quite a few people on a regular basis. And though on the HBO series what is dead may never die, the real-life actors being set on fire do need to go home unscathed at night.

In a new behind-the-scenes video posted by HBO on Monday, the “Game of Thrones” stunt team reveals its secrets for keeping everyone in Westeros safe as they douse them in fire.

“We burn more people than anybody else, basically,” stunt coordinator Rowley Irlam says in the clip — seriously, they broke a TV record with 20 full-fire burns in one shot — as he explains how they manage to do this without killing anyone.

“We’re trying to create this really dynamic frame of action,” he says. “We’d love to go home at the end of the day and no one’s paid any kind of price for it.”

We then see the stunt performers doing a “fire dance,” which is what they call the route they take in the scene from when they are set on fire until they are extinguished by the safety guys.

Irlam explains they wear three layers of Nomex underwear, which is soaked in fireproof gel and are only burned for 15 seconds at a time.

‘The Passage’ Finale: Amy Initiates ‘Elizabeth Protocol’ and That’s Not a Good Thing (Exclusive Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Tensions are rising going into Monday’s season finale of “The Passage.” And it looks they’re going to hit critical mass in just about two minutes, thanks to Amy and a little button.

In a new clip from the Fox vampire drama’s two-hour Season 1 closer, which is exclusive to TheWrap, Amy (Saniyya Sidney) is holed up in a room somewhere in Project NOAH, when she decides to initiate “Elizabeth Protocol.” And while we don’t know exactly what that is, it definitely isn’t good.

While fighting back tears, Amy says “I’m sorry,” before hitting a button on a computer that brings up a “System Locked” screen and starts a two-minute countdown.

Lear (Henry Ian Cusick) and Richards (Vincent Piazza) — who are in the same room as Amy, but didn’t notice what was happening until now — look worried, as sirens begin to go off.

Meanwhile, Nichole (Caroline Chikezie) and Brad (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) are trapped on 4B and she just used the walkies to confirm with Richards that yes, the red lights and alarms going off down there mean the floor is gonna blow in a couple minutes.

Brad says they can’t, because Fanning (Jamie McShane) is down there and if Fanning dies, Amy dies. So who hit the button?

Here’s the official description for the next batch of episodes:

Season 2 brings fans back into the action with Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) after the shocking Season 1 cliffhanger featuring the return of John Kreese (Martin Kove). When a new rivalry between opposing dojos is born in the aftermath of Cobra Kai’s controversial win at the All Valley Championships, Daniel realizes his next countermove is to open his own karate training school called Miyagi-Do, in honor of his mentor Mr. Miyagi. What was once a personal feud between Daniel and Johnny escalates beyond their differences to engulf their students, who as teenagers, are already challenged to figure out who they are and who they want to be. Which path will they follow – Cobra Kai or Miyagi-Do?

‘The Sandlot’ Gang Will Reunite in TV Reboot, Creator Says

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Get ready, “Sandlot” fans. Smalls, Squints and Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez are getting back together with the gang in an upcoming streaming TV series, according to writer-director David Mickey Evans.

Evans made the big reveal during an interview Thursday on the baseball podcast The Rain Delay. “I just sold a ‘Sandlot’ television show. We’re about to get an order for the first two seasons,” he told host Cooperstown Kurt, though he says he couldn’t disclose who will be streaming the series just yet.

Regarded as a ’90s cult classic, “The Sandlot” follows the awkward new kid in the neighborhood, Scotty Smalls, as he befriends a group of baseball loving kids in the San Fernando Valley during the summer of 1962. So what can Evans tell us about the new series?

“I already got all the original cast members back,” Evan said. “It takes place in 1984, when they’re all, like, 33 years old and they all have children of their own. And that’s all I can tell you.”

This isn’t the only “Sandlot” follow-up in the works. During the original film’s 25th anniversary celebration last year, 20th Century Fox announced that a prequel film was in development with Evans attached as a co-writer for the script. A release date has not been set.

Ava DuVernay’s ‘Central Park Five’ Netflix Series Gets New Title – Watch First Teaser Here (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

Ava DuVernay’s upcoming Netflix limited series, “The Central Park Five,” has gotten a new title, a premiere date, and its first teaser.

On Friday, the streamer released the date announcement video for the four-part show, now titled, “When They See Us,” which will premiere on May 31.

DuVernay had the honor of dropping the short clip herself, tweeting along with it, “Not thugs. Not wilding. Not criminals. Not even the Central Park Five. They are Korey, Antron, Raymond, Yusef, Kevin. They are millions of young people of color who are blamed, judged and accused on sight. May 31. A film in four parts about who they really are. WHEN THEY SEE US.”

— Ava DuVernay (@ava) March 1, 2019

“In 1989, five black and brown teen boys were wrongly accused of a crime they did not commit and branded The Central Park Five, a moniker that has followed them since that time,” she said in a statement. “In 2019, our series gives the five men a platform to finally raise their voices and tell their full stories. In doing so, Korey, Antron, Raymond, Kevin and Yusef also tell the story of many young people of color unjustly ensnared in the criminal justice system. We wanted to reflect this perspective in our title, embracing the humanity of the men and not their politicized moniker.”

Per Netflix, “based on a true story that gripped the country, ‘When They See Us’ will chronicle the notorious case of five teenagers of color, labeled the Central Park Five, who were convicted of a rape they did not commit. The four part limited series will focus on the five teenagers from Harlem — Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise. Beginning in the spring of 1989, when the teenagers were first questioned about the incident, the series will span 25 years, highlighting their exoneration in 2002 and the settlement reached with the city of New York in 2014.”

“When They See Us” stars Michael K. Williams, Vera Farmiga, John Leguizamo, Felicity Huffman, Niecy Nash, Blair Underwood, Christopher Jackson, Joshua Jackson, Omar J. Dorsey, Adepero Oduye, Famke Janssen, Aurora Perrineau, William Sadler, Jharrel Jerome, Jovan Adepo, Aunjanue Ellis, Kylie Bunbury, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Storm Reid, Chris Chalk, Freddy Miyares, Justin Cunningham, Ethan Herisse, Caleel Harris, Marquis Rodriguez and Asante Blackk.

The series was created by DuVernay, who also co-wrote and directed the four parts. Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King from Participant Media, Oprah Winfrey from Harpo Films, and Jane Rosenthal, Berry Welsh and Robert De Niro from Tribeca Productions executive produce, alongside DuVernay under her Forward Movement banner. In addition to DuVernay, Attica Locke, Robin Swicord, and Michael Starrbury also serve as writers on the limited series.

‘The Other Two’: Brooke Preps ‘F–boy’ Chase for Music Video, Pat and Cary Get Ready for ‘WWHL’ (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

On Thursday’s episode of “The Other Two,” Chase shoots a music video. And you’ll know this because the installment is aptly titled, “Chase Shoots a Music Video.”

But, just like everything else that happens in the world of viral fame at the center of Comedy Central’s breakout hit — which has already been renewed for a second season — it’s done in the most ridiculous way possible.

In this clip from the episod, Chase Dubek, aka Chase Dreams (Case Walker) and Brooke (Helene Yorke) navigate the set of his new music video.

The team is “trying to get Chase’s pecs to pop.” When Brooke dares to ask why, because he’s only thirteen, consultant Shuli Kucerac (Wanda Sykes) gives this eloquent response: “Because Brooke, we did sweet, we did gay, now he’s a f—boy.”

Then it’s time to actually shoot the video, featuring Chase Dreams chilling on his car, loving his watch close to his face, but, like, naturally.

“Hold it like you’d hold your watch close to your face on your car,” the director says.

Meanwhile, Pat (Molly Shannon) is getting ready to be interviewed by Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live” and Cary (Drew Tarver) is “looking to get jacked fast” because he’s gonna be the bartender. So they are both simultaneously appearing on “WWHL” — but, you know, one in the background.

Per FX’s official description: “He was a visionary filmmaker and one of theater’s most influential choreographers and directors, she was the greatest Broadway dancer of all time. Together they changed the face of American entertainment — at a perilous cost.”

“Fosse/Verdon” will feature Fosse’s choreography and will “explore the hidden corners of show business, the price of pursuing greatness, and the suffering inflicted in the name of art.”

‘Masked Singer’ Finale: ‘Blurred Lines’ Clue Makes Robin Thicke Change His Guess for Peacock (Exclusive Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

We’ve finally made it, you guys. After eight long weeks of guessing, the first season of “The Masked Singer” ends Wednesday with not one, not two, but three unmaskings of famous contestants — one of which will be crowned the winner of Fox’s new oddball competition singing series.

But before we find out if that’s Peacock, Bee or Monster, the panelists have to continue to guess who Peacock, Bee and Monster are. And in the above sneak peek from the finale, which is exclusive to TheWrap, Robin Thicke is convinced he’s got the feathered masked singer all figured out.

“He said he was inspired by ‘Blurred Lines,’” Thicke says to the Peacock, host Nick Cannon, and his fellow panelists, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger. “I know that this person put out an album a few years ago that went No. 1 parodying ‘Blurred Lines’ and that’s Weird Al Yankovic. BOOM!”

“Magician! Vegas residency! Either I’m WAY off or I’m REAL close,” he added.

“If that’s Weird Al, he has the voice of baby Jesus and Fergie, OK?” Scherzinger said

The “Blurred Lines” singer doubled down on his guess, adding: “Weird Al’s a mimic. He’s a trained dancer. H plays accordion, piano. Vegas!”

Thicke is confident in his choice, guys. But we gotta tell you, the rest of the team is not.

John Oliver Rips Psychics and ‘Sophisticated Manhattan Sex Monster’ Matt Lauer for Believing Them (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

John Oliver really, really doesn’t like psychics. So much so, in fact, he went on a 20-minute rant about the profession during Sunday’s “Last Week Tonight,” in which he told viewers that the psychic industry pulls in $2.2 billion a year and that one recent poll shows four in 10 Americans believe in what he calls a scam — including, apparently, Matt Lauer.

Oliver cut to an old clip of the now-ousted “Today” show host receiving a reading from “Hollywood Medium” Tyler Henry, which Lauer seems to genuinely believe he is connecting with his dead father from beyond the grave through the psychic.

“It’s clear that Matt Lauer is touched there — and this time he didn’t even have to pressure a subordinate into doing it,” Oliver jokes.

Also Read: John Oliver Compares Brexit ‘Disaster’ to Will Smith’s Genie in Live-Action ‘Aladdin’ (Video)

“Look, maybe Tyler Henry genuinely accessed the after-life, an action that would fundamentally change our understanding of everything on earth,” he continued. “Or maybe he just Googled ‘Matt Lauer dad’ and hit the f–king jackpot. So to recap, hot reading: researching people beforehand, the even lazier skill than cold reading, which basically involves indiscriminately shouting the names of dead Irishmen in a hotel ballroom. And what’s surprising is, whichever technique Tyler used, Lauer fell for it. And he is smart, he’s a sophisticated manhattan sex monster. But he fell for it.”

He fell for it so much so that Oliver then showed a clip of Lauer telling his co-hosts he went home and cried over the reading.

“Wow, everything about that is a little strange, not least the fact that it is weird to envision a scenario in which something happened at the ‘Today’ show offices, and then Matt Lauer was the one who went home and cried,” Oliver added.

And then — just because Oliver really wants to take down these self-professed mindreaders — he showed a bunch of “clips of psychics f–king up.” But honestly that was just because “it’s really funny.”

Yes, for the first time, the competition series eliminated two masked singers at once, as it heads into its Season 1 finale next week.

Rumer Willis was unveiled as the actress behind the Lion’s mask, while the Rabbit’s true identity was revealed to be singer Joey Fatone. Along with those two, tonight’s episode saw the returns of Bee, Peacock and Monster.

After the contestants performed, it was time for panelists Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke, along with the studio audience, to choose which member of the group were the two “weakest performers,” who would then be eliminated and unmasked. And those ended up being Lion and Rabbit.

Then it was time for the booted celebs to unmask themselves, with Willis and Fatone removing their giant masks to reveal themselves.

According to Fox, between all of the 12 celebrities competing on the first season of “The Masked Singer,” they’ve amassed 65 Grammy nominations, 16 multi-platinum albums, 16 Emmy nominations, nine Broadway shows, four stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and four Super Bowl titles.

Last year, Fergie’s ex-husband, Josh Duhamel, called Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green a “prick” for laughing on camera as Fergie wrapped up the anthem.

“I was pissed off at Draymond Green, first of all, I think he owed her an apology,” Duhamel said. “I thought he was kind of a prick, just because he knew the camera was on him and he snickered about it.”

Green, in response, joined several teammates — including Curry, Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins — in clowning Fergie’s performance once again in the locker room skit.

Ron Howard’s ‘Pavarotti’ Gets First Look During Grammys (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

CBS Films’ upcoming documentary “Pavarotti” got its first look during the 61st Grammy Awards on Sunday night. It’s the third music doc from Oscar-winning director Ron Howard, following his 2013 look at Jay-Z’s “Made in America” and the 2016 doc “The Beatles: Eight Days A Week.”

Created from a combination of Luciano Pavarotti’s iconic performances — including his memorable performance of Giacomo Puccini’s aria “Nessun dorma” — and granted access to never-before-seen footage, “Pavarotti” promises an intimate portrait of the most beloved opera singer of all time.

“The reason why he is great is he lived those songs,” U2 frontman Bono says in the TV spot.

‘Knightfall’ Season 2 Trailer: Watch Mark Hamill Give Out Sage Advice and Punch People (Video)

Read on: TheWrapTheWrap.

History’s drama series “Knightfall” will return with its second season — which includes Mark Hamill — on Monday, March 25 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, A + E Studios announced during the Television Critics Association press tour Sunday. But if you can’t wait that long to see Hamill trade in his lightsaber for a Medieval sword, you’re in luck, because History also dropped the Season 2 trailer.

The 2-minute, 16-second video teases Hamill’s debut as Talus, a battle-hardened Knight Templar veteran and initiate master who is tasked with preparing the next generation of men to proudly wear the red cross on their chests and become “God’s Executioners.” Based on the trailer, it seems Talus oscillates between giving out sage advice, and punching people.

Hamill joins series star Tom Cullen (Sir Landry du Lauzon) — who he punches in the face in the clip above, by the way — for the eight-episode Season 2, which History calls a “a more brutal view of this harsh time in history, and heads towards the ultimate demise of the Templar Order which occurred on Friday the 13th, 1307.”

Also returning for the second season are series regulars Ed Stoppard (“The Crown”) as King Philip IV of France, Pádraic Delaney (The Wind That Shakes the Barley, “The Tudors”) as Gawain, Simon Merrells (“Spartacus”, “Dominion”) as Tancrede, Julian Ovenden (“Downton Abbey”) as William DeNogaret and Jim Carter (“Downton Abbey”) as Pope Boniface VIII.

In addition to Hamill, new cast members include the previously announced Genevieve Gaunt (“The Royals”) as Princess Isabella, the daughter of King Philip who history would eventually call “the she-wolf of France,” Tom Forbes (“The Bastard Executioner”) as Prince Louis, the violent and unpredictable son of King Philip and heir to the throne, and Clementine Nicholson (“Underworld: Blood Wars”) as Margaret, Princess of Burgundy and the devoted wife of Prince Louis of France.

Per History: “‘Knightfall’ goes inside the medieval politics and warfare of the Knights Templar, the most powerful, wealthy and mysterious military order of the Middle Ages. The series goes deep into the clandestine world of this legendary brotherhood of warrior monks to learn who these knights were, how they lived, and what they died believing. With the historical and ruthless downfall of the Templar Order on the horizon, season two focuses on themes such as power, redemption, revenge, betrayal, family, and ultimately an epic war between church and state. Hamill joins the cast as new character Talus, a battle-hardened Knight Templar veteran and initiate master who is tasked with preparing the next generation of men to proudly wear the iconic red cross on their chests and become ‘God’s Executioners.’”

Executive producers for Midnight Radio are Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg. Don Handfield (“Touchback,” “The Founder,” “Kill the Messenger”) and Richard Rayner (“L.A. Without A Map”) serve as creators and executive producers for The Combine, with Jeremy Renner (“American Hustle,” “The Hurt Locker”) also serving as executive producer. Cyrus Voris (“Legends”), Ethan Reiff (“Legends”), Rick Jacobson (“Ash vs Evil Dead”) and Barry Jossen also executive produce. Arturo Interian is the executive producer for History.
