Amazon Studios has signed a first-look television deal with Oscar and Emmy Award winner Jordan Peele and his production company Monkeypaw Productions, the e-commerce giant announced Tuesday.
The deal furthers an already expansive relationship between the “Get Out” director and Amazon.
Amazon is already working with Peele on his company’s Nazi hunting series, “The Hunt,” which Amazon picked up for 10 episodes in May. The drama is a vengeance-driven Nazi-hunting series, based on an original idea, drawing from real-life events, and created by David Weil (“Moonfall”), who will pen the script and executive produce along with Peele.
Peele is also executive producing a four-part docuseries on Lorena Bobbitt called “Lorena” for Amazon.
“Jordan, Win Rosenfeld, and the Monkeypaw team represent the ideal creative collaboration as we continue to ramp up original, culturally relevant and riveting television,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. “Our Lorena Bobbitt documentary and series order for ‘The Hunt’ represent just the start of what will be a prolific and exciting relationship with Monkeypaw.”
Peele also announced in May that his next film, “Us” will his theaters in March 2019. Peele won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for his debut film “Get Out.” In 2016, he bagged an Emmy for his Comedy Central series “Key & Peele.”
Jordan Peele added: “I couldn’t be more excited about this new relationship with Amazon. They’ve been a fantastic partner to Monkeypaw over the last year because they’re committed to the same kind of fun and culturally-relevant television we are.” Peele founded Monkeypaw in 2012.
