Steven Soderberg’s “Ocean’s Eleven” trilogy grossed over $400 million in the U.S. between 2004 and 2007, which each installment surpassing the $100 million mark at the box office. The financial success and popularity of the George Clooney/Brad Pitt-led franchise means the pressure is on for this summer’s “Ocean’s 8,” but the new official trailer for the female-charged spinoff pretty much guarantees Warner Bros. has a smash hit on its hands.
“Ocean’s 8” stars Sandra Bullock as Debbie Ocean, the estranged sister of Clooney’s Danny Ocean. After being released from prison, Debbie recruits a team of fellow thieves and hackers to pull off an epic heist at the famed Met Gala in New York City. Bullock’s partners in crime are Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, and Awkwafina.
Warner Bros. will release “Ocean’s 8” nationwide June 8. The film is directed by “The Hunger Games'” Gary Ross. Watch the official trailer below.
