Most people get really excited to meet Sam Smith. That adulation’s got nothing on how over-the-moon Smith was to meet Fifth Harmony, however.
The “Too Good at Goodbyes” singer got the surprise of a lifetime Wednesday while sitting shotgun in James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke.”
Toward the end of the latest CBS recurring sketch, The “Late Late Show” host called on Smith’s favorite girl-group to join them in his famous white Range Rover SUV for a little “Work From Home.”
Yeah, dude was legit freaking out over Fifth Harmony piling into the backseat, which makes his earlier reply about getting starstruck seem perhaps a bit disingenuous.
“I’m always confused when I meet actors,” Smith said at the time, “because they always look huge on screen and then you meet them and they’re tiny.”
“Tiny, but big heads,” Corden jumped in. “You meet, like, Brad Pitt and he’s like very, very small — but huge head.”
“It’s weird,” Smith concurred. “It’s some alien s—.”
