When it comes to click-bait, “Carpool Karaoke” with James Corden is a sure thing.
From recording superstars to Broadway wonders to the First Lady of the United States, there’s something about belting out a tune with the “Late Late Show” host while strapped inside a moving vehicle that brings a smile to just about everyone’s face.
“What you realize … is that you’re dealing with people like Justin Bieber or Stevie Wonder or Mariah Carey … who, for a very long time, have never really been on their own,” Corden said of “Carpool Karaoke” in a 2015 interview with The New York Post.
“They’re very successful people who come with necessary teams of people. We shoot them for about 40 minutes and they’re completely on their own: it’s me and them and fixed cameras and that’s it. I think they find that very liberating and there’s a joy in that I’m very proud of.”
Here’s a look at some of the powerhouse talent that Corden chauffeured around L.A., New York or London in 2016, ranked by YouTube hits.
